Fun fact: The lyrics in the arcade version are actually synthesized instead of being voice recordings. That's why there's a weird stutter effect on held notes in the arcade version ("DAY-TO-NA-A-A-A-A-A-A" and "ROLL-ING STA-A-A-A-A-A-ART") and not in the home versions.

Similar instrumentation and it sounds like the same key but it's tenuous for the most part.

The tempo and time signature are all totally different.

A lot of the Dreams Come True stuff from the early 90s is all over those first two Sonic games. Every track has something from somewhere. It's not really an uncommon thing for composers. I've done some work on game music before and re-purposed old tracks for a different use in a new format. It's interesting what you find.

Even CD, 2MSGG, Drift and 3 and Knuckles is full of it. The Stranger in Moscow credits in Sonic 3 is definitive proof for Michael Jackson's work in 3 above all else.

Yeah I can hear the resemblance too, but it's not quite the same. Anyway, it's the same with "Marry Me?", the chord progression is Green Hill Zone but it's way slower.
As you say you'll hear a lot of elements from Sonic music in early 90s DCT.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsH8SstgkLc

>> No.2662961

>>2662953
The Green Hill one is definitely there. It's just the instrumentation and tempo which throw it off. If you listen to them both together, you can definitely hear it.

The main bassline in Kessen wa Kinyoubi is definitely related to the chorus section in Labyrinth though. Without a doubt.

It's not even generally my type of music but fucking hell Dreams Come True's brand of uptempo 90s disco synth pop is fucking good. So much going on.

Sorry, I was thrown off by the "sounds like" and "tenuous" comparisons when it was literally them that composed it; especially the "not uncommon for composers" shortly followed by "re-purposed old music".

Surely you can see my confusion, no?
The composer, Masato Nakamura, started and is still a part of Dreams Come True? Wrote literally every song in 1+2?

Y'all certainly didn't make it sound that way...

>> No.2663002

>>2662995
No, it was the comparison to the Special Zone track. That was tenuous at best. It's not as bang on as other tracks are. That's all we were talking about. It's not the same song, just has similar instrumentation. I think you've totally got the wrong end of the stick here buddy.

Of course he wrote all that stuff but that particular post was a tenuous comparison. I did also say that the Green Hill, Labyrinth and Death Egg robot tracks in particular are definitely DCT tracks and that there's fucking loads of Sonic stuff on the DCT albums from the early 90s. That -might- just imply that I know that the same guy wrote it.
