What are the best 2D games for Sega Saturn (in particular, shmups if possible) that were NOT Japan import-only?

I'm trying to learn more about Sega Saturn and what good 2D games people in USA and Europe actually got.

For shooters, I think the only two released in the west was Darius Gaiden and Layer Section. Lucky too, since they are the best on the Saturn.

It will run fine but remember that the port has tons of slowdown and a few graphic problems anyway.
