tumblr didn't exist a few decades ago, so there was no concept of "social justice" as it's seen today. The ratio of female-to-male sexualization is definitely disproportionate, but male sexualization does happen, albeit rarely. The only two instances I can think of are: 1.) Romance novels, and 2.) Films geared toward women (e.g. Magic Mike)

Fit, muscular men in action films or video games are entirely a male power fantasy created by men. Nothing is done to sexualize these characters - the camera doesn't try to pan across their bodies or display creepshots, doesn't fixate on their facial features, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if for some complainers it has more to do with feeling like the mostly male artists and writers are trying to "tell" women how they should look or act. I do want to know what female depiction by a male artist would be considered OK and not too weak or fetishized. If it were really just about not feeling objectified or feeling like "real women" are not represented in comics and games I think there'd be more understanding that both sexes are given unreasonable representations in comics and games. Maybe it is just me but I don't feel like I am always comparing myself to fictional characters. I saw plenty of strong, morivated, and attractive male characters as a kid but I'm still a fat lazy nerd and don't bemoan why I can't look like Batman or feel upset that Chris Redfield isn't a fat loser who struggles to stay out of bed. I get that what you mean is proportions like Barbie, not the exact physical proportions of Barbie scaled up, because reasonable people understand that it's a doll and expecting its proportions to be an exact anatomically correct ratio of what a human scaled down to Barbie size would be is dumb (and probably wouldn't sell all that well anyway; look at Bratz and how much Barbie market share they've taken.)
