Prove me wrong. Also: http://vgmaps.com/

>> No.2593121

It is invoking nightmares about constantly hitting start to switch to feather, power bracelet, and Pegasus boots so you can traverse the land.

Not to mention accidentally touching a rock without having the bracelet equipped.

Other than that, love the game and map design. Lots of holes when you look at it though.

This game had the actually hard water temple. I couldn't figure it out without a guide so I stopped playing. I might go back and try again because the game was so fun.

Every thread? Wtf are you talking about? I barely post at all here.

Aren't you the one being autistic by a spazzing out over someone stating minor irritants about the game?

Christ, I love the game too but that doesn't mean this thread has to be,a one sided slobberfest.

I always liked seasons and ages more than links awakening.

You can't have a dissenting opinion on /vr!!!
But yeah, I agree. The constant switching really brought down an otherwise good game.
Also, it wasn't just rocks that gave that message, wasn't it pots too?

Of course.

There seems to be a somewhat small majority who'll vie for Season, but personally I've always preferred Ages.

If you want a seriously difficult water temple, give Ages a try as well.

>> No.2595884

I think calling the guy autistic in this case is a bit rich. Also, he's right. I legitimately got bored of the game due to the switching and shit. There were a lot of niggling bad design choices in that game that, if someone had just thought about it, shouldn't have existed and would have made for a much better game.

>> No.2595885

>>2595763
Not that anon but I decided to play the gb loz back to back a year or 2 ago and just couldn't get into seasons after ages. I went straight to LA after a small session. Maybe after the time I should try again too bad I can't remember my password.

>> No.2595887

>>2595763
I would recommend doing Seasons first, especially if you're intending to complete the second as a linked game. Because of the bonuses you get during a linked game, it trivializes the combat to a degree. As Ages is more focused on puzzles than combat, you lose less if it's done as the second part of a linked game.

That being said, as far as story goes they can be completed in either order.

>> No.2595897

>>2595763
Ages is the harder game, but doing Seasons after Ages means you'll have a very advantageous item for the final bosses.

Other than that kind of thing, though, it hardly matters what order they're played in. The game you play second will have some throwbacks and secrets that wouldn't normally be there if you played it first, and there's some legitimately broken stuff you can get if you make use of the games' password systems.

>> No.2595914

>>2595763
>Which one should be played first?

Both.

Play Seasons, then Ages. Play Ages, then Seasons. Do unlinked and linked games of both.

>> No.2597274

>>2594931
Seasons is almost as good as LA - and that's largely because I'm a sucker for the story. Season's bosses are unarguably superior, and it's just generally great fun.

Ages... Eh. Not a fan.

What would've been a good alternative setup? There are only two buttons available for environment interactions.

OOT-style auto-jumping would be a viable option for top-down maps but would be weird in the sidescroller sections.

Perma-mapping a basic function such as grab/lift to one of the buttons would deprive you of 50% of your button retail space, so that's out. Grab/lift wouldn't work either as a context-dependent perma-mapping (i.e., which overrides the item selected to a certain button when that button is pressed with Link facing a grabbable/liftable surface/object), since a player may want to set a bomb against a grabbable object rather than grab it. Or test a surface for grabbability but wind up dropping a bomb instead.

Ages is a little bit tedious at times, but really great. I always like the depressing atmosphere in the past. It really motivated me to get things right. And it has more puzzles and one optional item. Seasons doesn't have an optional item. Optional items are cool.

preset slots might work
Hold select, and press up, down, left or right to select item pairs that you set up in the menu.
Change viewing the map to selectable in the start menu.

Something like hold select, a cursor appears over A or B slot, and you use up/down to switch the item in the slot and left/right to switch slot being changed?

Back in the day they probably also did it both to stay consistent with series tradition and to give players a break where they could stop and think about what items they need to use (Zelda was aimed at children after all).

I played this for the very first time last year, and whilst it was a fun good game, it didnt live up to my expectations. Obviously would've been much better had i played it at the time.

Anyway, more on topic. I've been searching for one of my most fondest maps but google's letting me down. Its the world map to monkey hero on the ps1.

Also castlevania SOTN obviously.

Yeah, DS2 is fucked. You can see that at the... I forget it's name but the place with the armored giants and Old Dragonslayer. DS1 seems to be seamless for the most part.
