Anyone else ever play Dirt Dash? Great rally racing game where you had to finish a single long course, with some damn good music.

Namco's pretty much one of my favorite game companies. Almost everything they did on the PS1 was gold. Ridge Race, Ace Combat, Tales of Destiny. Wonderful.

although, I was never too huge on Namco's 80s/early 90s efforts, always leaned more toward Taito or Sega there
Mappy's my favorite of Taito's early games, fucking wonderful. Galaga '88 is cool as fuck, and of the big early Namco games, Dig Dug is my favorite.

I still need to play this. Saw the GCCX episode and still haven't gotten around to it.

I always wonder how different video game history would be if the Namco Super System came out.

I love GCCX but it discourages me from playing games more than it does encourage me to play them, it's just like "dear lord, this game is so hard, I'm not playing this shit"

>> No.2591448

Bosconian doesn't get enough love IMO. Dig-Dug 1 and 2 are pretty great too.

Got to play Lucky & Wild for the first time in ages - that's such a fun game. My favorite Namco game's still Rolling Thunder, though.

Keep in mind that the first 60 stages are pretty easy, the 40 special stages after that are where the real game is. You warp to them by grabbing the warp crystal in a chest on floor 1, then 6, then 11, and so forth until floor 60. After that you don't want to grab any warps (if you do, kill yourself) because you will actually go backwards. It seems like a shitty game at first because of the controls, but the whole point of the game is to master them. It's quite challenging and unique.

Legend of Valkyrie has quickly become one of my favorite Namco games, if not one of my favorite games, period. It's criminal that Namco didn't put together a near arcade perfect port of it for Genesis or SNES, I think it would've been a minor hit. I don't think I realized how awesome Namco is/was as a game developer until I started playing their less obvious arcade titles on the PC Engine, like Pac Land, Galaga 88, Genpei Touma-den, etc.

Are there any outright bad Namco games? I honestly can't think of one, although I'm sure they exist.

Point Blank is probably my favorite arcade gun game, I'm really happy it got a PS port.

Oh yeah, you bet.

But there was a long stretch of time where pretty much everything they made was gold.

Galaga 88 on PC engine, and ridge racer 64.

Bosconian is also amazing.

I loved the fuck out of Bosconian on volume 1. Shit was fun.

>>2591674

Valkyrie is why I bought volume 5 after emulating it. It's such a good game and it's very unfortunate that not a lot of people outside of Japan know about it.

Dancing Eyes maybe?
