How do u usually get rid of them /vr/? Is there any general strategy or smth like this?

Shoot FIREBALLS at them, or JUMP on their heads. It is sometimes also possible to KICK a Koopa shell at them, but these opportunities are rare. You can also try to RUN underneath them when they JUMP.

Be sure to avoid their hammers.

Wait for them to throw two standing hammers then charge. If they jump, run under them. If they stay standing, stomp them (with the beginning of your jump or a low jump)

Usually I get as close as possible, then run under when I get the chance. If I have a mushroom, no fear.

There is one in 8-3 I try and nail with a shell, but it always glitches through him.

And of course you'll often run into 2 that jump on and off two rows of blocks, just hit the block they're standing on from below to kill those.

Growing up playing SMB, I learned that the best way is to just wait and watch for a break in the hammers and/or their jumps, it will happen. B-dash and jump through the hammers or under them. The hardest time is when they're on a block formation like the pic, fortunately that's rare.

The hammer bros are actually the most "feared" part in speedruns as they are indeed pretty much unpredictable in their movement. You just with time get the necessary skills to react quickly enough to the hammers. So there is no real all-time strategy, best is to take them out via fireball from relative distance. Or simply ignore them and run past without trying to kill them.

Don't panic. Move back and forth avoiding the hammers, wait for a break in their throws, run jump to land on their hands or go over them. World 8-2 (or is it 3?) is a bitch, make good use of the turtle shell early and follow it into most of them. If you're big you should be able to cruise past the rest. If not, run full speed and jump before they start laying them out or do the strategy I laid out earlier. Watch out for the one that runs at you.

That's actually a good idea for practicing so when he does plays without it he can handle them since he practiced. Practicing every other part but hammer bros does not make you better at playing against hammer bros.
