How is $16 a lot for a dreamcast controller, VMU, and rumble pack combo?

It is astounding how hype and bandwagon jumping can so greatly impact pricing. Those kinds of people disgust me.

>> No.2575170

Because it's $16.99 which is practically $17 dollars. They're trying to trick you with the 99 cents.

Look at the controller though. It's got a sweet BLUE SEETHROUGH vmu

That´s pretty cheap, here in my country a Dreamcast controller can go as high as 50 US dollars.
In general retro gaming here is expensive as hell.

It's not NEARLY as rampant as it was back in the day though. Most people have the official Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo controllers. I can remember going to friend's and cousins' houses and there only being 1 official controller and bunch of really really bad knockoffs

>> No.2575208

Be honest /vr/

If you had shit you were selling on ebay, wouldn't you sell for high prices like everyone else? It's just the way the market is right now.

>> No.2575224

>>2575208
Generally speaking, I scout the prices of my items in comparable condition/completion and sell mine with a BIN for a few bucks lower than the lowest price. I sell to get money as /quickly/ as I can.

>> No.2575308

The description:
>Crash bandicoot ps1 game without box in good condition, payment via PayPal, any questions gladly answered

The price it eventually went for: http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=271938305590

Utterly fucking stupid.

i tend to check the buy now price, take in the trending factor, and a bit of common sense to figure out the average.

Then I slash that in half and make it biddable. That usually brings in sellers to watch it all then they get blinded by the bidding war to realize that the price has gone higher than some cheaper buy it nows.

But thats usually what i do for regular items.

Video games i only sell repeats and stuff I dont want so i just 99 cent it with estimated shipping costs and im good.

I sold a model 2 with a 2 controllers, all the hook ups, and a few games for like 20 bucks, got it returned to me for some bs reason, put back on a week later and it sold for 50.

If youre looking to buy on ebay, i suggest you give it time.

I sadly missed out on CIB of Truxton, Technocop, and 2 other games for 10 bucks and im kinda beating myself up for it, but ill know itll come around. If you dont want to encourage reseller scum, dont buy at reseller prices.

If you keep tabs on their page youll notice the non selling items get lower and lower

That really flips my shit. I've been looking for a copy of Shenmue II for a while now and just never bothered to ebay it. Now I'll probably never find a copy for a decent price.

>a first-party GameCube controller costs more than the console itself
>second-hand stores gut any first-party controllers from the GC consoles they get for resale, and instead bundle them with cheap, shitty third-party controllers
>then they turn around and list the first-party controllers on eBay for USD $40+

The only downside is it's missing the analog cushion. But who cares?

>> No.2575462

in australia the dreamcast has been expensive on ebay for awhile (way before the Shem3 thing at least). about 2 years ago you'd be expected to pay ~$90 for one with cables and controller, now god knows

>Sells for like 10 bucks less then I paid, dude who bid against me backed out super early

This is stupid as fuck because you can get brand new, non-raped official controllers imported from Japan (and hell, probably here too) for way less.

>tfw I had 3 wavebirds and just bought my 4th, on ebay, for 32 canadian with free shipping.

I'm really happy. Not that many people come over to play gamecube but its such a pain in the ass when one guy has to sit next to the console to play when everyone else can sit wherever. Finally I have 4.

Although...
>Have like 3 Busted GC controllers from years of adolescent abuse in Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Smash Bros
>Know they are broken, as my friends or I broke them myself
>Sticks still feel fairly tight, but I know they're fucked.
>Post ad on CL, saying that I can't test them as I don't have a GC anymore (true, my GC shitted out years ago, but I still have my wii)
>Ask 30 cdn a pop
>Guy wants to buy them all
>Meet up at the mall
>He pays me 90 cash and takes them and runs away, like he got a deal

Let me tell you losers about greedy secondhand sellers. I can sort of understand selling something older than 10 years on ebay for a huge price. But when the average price for a GameBoy Advance on eBay is 80 bucks, something is up. There was also the time I was trying to buy a copy of Animal Crossing at the same time as someone who was buying as many copies as he could to resell them later. He had almost cornered the whole market before I outbid him on a decently priced copy with the original memory card. Not /vr/, but I'm just mad that I had to go through so much trouble to get a stupid GameBoy Advance. I don't see GBs and GBCs being sold for 80 bucks.
