Make an exception in DEP.
http://www.trishtech.com/2010/12/create-dep-exception-for-a-program-in-windows-vista/

Windows Vista and up strictly enforce DEP and it causes RCT to shit itself because it's 95% assembly code and does some interesting things with memory.

I've done testing and found that with ludicrous launch speeds, short trains won't actually reach them. Even long trains wont. In the one you posted, I assume you set the launch speed to the maximum possible? It got nowhere near it. I've found that even with a long train, it takes multiple circuits through the station to reach max speed.

This clip demonstrates it perfectly. Watch it accelerate with each circuit.

I've found this effect even applies to reasonable speeds. Increasing launch speed one step can increase the actual speed by more than that step.

>> No.2534385

>>2534363
Yes well, my point was more that you get instantly to the maximum speed you would actually want for coasters like this. I mean, who the fuck would want his coaster to go 922kmh or even faster? You can get instantly to 500+ and that's easily enough.

Also i can get to 77.94 intensity with multiple circuits lmao.

I usually start with the lift hill and then the first drop(s). When i decide to transition into the spaghettifest i usually go into, i start every coaster off with a couple of pieces into that spaghettifest.
Then i completely finish a single coaster while figuring out one spot where i decide all the coasters will match up almost perfectly, in this case those six small bumps that also go underground. After that i finish all 5 other coasters and look how they match up. I pick one coaster that i deem perfect and match all the others to that single coaster. Side friction stacker duel
I have a spaghetti problem and it looks horrible from the side, just assume white track is 3-4 units lower almost always.

Trouble with the squiggle down low causes only 1 of 3 trains to actually run together.

Making Side frictions of usable length (1500-4000ft/1-3 min) almost always ends up with a 30 mph 6/6/3 mediocre blend coaster.

SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME

>> No.2545336

I recently bought RCT Deluxe on Steam.
It says it includes Loopy Landscapes, but i haven't been seeing any of the LL theming yet, and I don't recall what rides it included.
Also, how do I into roller coasters? The scenarios so far haven't been allowing me to print money, and my mind can barely wrap itself around simple steel coasters with ladybugs to get the excitement rolling for park patrons.
It also freezes my computer after closing it, even when running in XP compatibility mode.

I've been having REALLY strange problems with my park lately.

For one, peeps seem to think there is some kind of barrier in the path in pic related, they get to the crazy paving and just TURN AROUND out of the blue
The peeps are also thinking "I've already got a park map" even though there is no Info Kiosk in sight
Then there was the weird issue where my giga coaster was "waiting for cable lift" for ages and ages, and it wasn't coming down. I could see where it was on the lift, and it was just stuck there...
I also keep getting prizes for Park with the most confusing lay-out, even though I've tried to keep pathing pretty straightforward.

Is my park haunted guys

I've noticed when I play either the base game or the levels you guys made, the game starts to slow down when I have a lot of either patrons, rides, coasters, etc.

Is there anyway to fix this?

I bought RCT2 on steam and running Windows 8. 8 gigs of RAM. i5 4690k, and Nvidea GeForce GTX 770. So im a little confused why it would cause to slow down

Also on a kind of related note: Bought RCT Deluxe on steam and every time I try to save/load, the game crashes.

Part of the problem was that you went so far away from the station that you had too long of a stretch to get back that you ran out of ideas. Closing stalls is kinda pointless anyway. You can save some money but it's usually not a significant amount and you can save more by just removing the stall and getting your money back.

I'd like a way to mass produce stalls. Making a food court takes a lot of clicks even with like three stalls.

One idea I kinda like from TTD/OpenTTD is the little jukebox thing where you can play music. It would be kinda neat to have a built in music player to play dodgems beat or whatever rather than the crowd noises.

100 best roller coasters I'm the world. Discuss.
http://www.listchallenges.com/100-best-roller-coasters-in-the-world/checklist/1

I scored a whopping 6/100, which I'm obviously very proud of. Being a yurofag this list isn't much different from my coaster bucket list, the US just has too many great rides.
But anyway, to rank them from best to worst:
1. Nemesis, Alton Towers
2. Black Mamba, Phantasialand
3. Blue Fire, Europa Park
4. Stealth, Thorpe Park
5. Expedition GeForce, Holiday Park
6. Colossus, Thorpe Park

First five were great, no question. Colossus was fun too, but it could've done without that many inversions. Those 5 heartline rolls at the end made it painfully obvious they just crammed in as many inversions as possible, merely for the sake of having a lot of inversions which, to me, felt a bit cheap and gimmicky.
In this list I'd replace it with either George and the Dragon at De Efteling, which is without a doubt among the best woodies I've ever had the pleasure of riding, or Walibi Holland's Goliath. Another giga, sure, but it was my first and is forever my favourite giga so suck it. And yes, I'm aware of my bias toward my own country's coasters, and how they might not even come close to being among the 100 best ones, but memories y'know?

>>2554751
Fuck me that looks neat though. Makes me think of that one Alton Towers coaster I can't remember the name of. Something something gotta go fast? All I know is it was red, andthat it greatly disappointed me after 2hrs of queueing combined with all the hype built around it when I went there, anyone know which one I'm talking about?

Probably won't get the chance of going back to the UK anytime soon either. This whole coaster enthusiasm is way too expensive a hobby for me and it breaks my heart ;_; At least my bae Black Mamba is close enough to give me some form of consolation.

Do test rides and check your coasters' stats. The guests don't like too intense rides. Try to avoid sharp turns when the carts are going fast and bank your turns whenever you can. Any movement other than straight forward when the ride is going fast causes lots of Gs and that's bad. Keeping the rides short may help too. I could never make the roller coasters people are posting in this thread because I suck at making them look good, but getting the guests to go on your roller coasters isn't too hard if you know what to look for. Perhaps you could post a screenshot of a roller coaster you made so we can tell you it sucks and how you can improve it.

The one in Paris is the only unique one. It has the Jules Vernes theme, steampunk architecture, launch cannon and inversions.

The others are just standard coasters with turns and drops, but with the thrill of being in the dark. Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Anaheim are identical, while Floridas is the original with two tracks, track and vehicle design similar to the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

afaik water rides don't base excitement off of g-forces. The main (or only) determining factor is length. Since rct doesn't count station to station but the whole ride you can exploit it for jacked up excitement.

Well, it's basically just a compact 1384m river rapids with paths, scenery and stalls underneath which allows for great stats. In order to maximise throughput/profit and reduce the queue time so the peeps won't complain, the track is divided into four identical parts.
It doesn't take much space and is pretty cheap compared to how much profit it makes. However, it's also ugly as fuck.

Well I'm back, I didn't manage to get on the tutorial since it apparently isn't working for my copy. But whatever, messed around some more, next attempt went horribly wrong and worse than my previous attempt. But then I tried again and came up with this.

Design wise, it's pretty shitty, I wasn't sure where I was going with it. I learned that chain lift into turn is horribly slow and I should turn at the beginning before chain lifting, I also learned what you guys mean by banking those turns, thanks for that. I added a chain lift in the middle of the track, I wasn't sure if it was going to get up, but I see I shouldn't have done that now and that it had enough momentum and also doing a stupid turn makes it very slow. But overall I'm happy with it, at least the intensity isn't crazy.

Nice work, looks to me like you're starting to get it now. For a little while I thought you were just fucking with us, and I wanna apologise for that.

As for design, what worked very well for me was to look at IRL coasters, preferably of the same type I was building, and recreating whatever I thought looked good. Both coastergallery.com and rcdb.com are great for this.

Keep on building and make /vr/ct proud. Godspeed, anon.

Copy ideas from other people. If you see something you like in a screenshot, try implementing something similar in one of your parks.
You can also download some of the collaborations we've done in the past. A lot of them have really creative scenery designs, so looking at those might give you some inspiration. Don't get discouraged about being bad with scenery.
