Yes the hardware made them bankrupt but Sonic made fans distrust them. Sonic made SEGA a laughable company whose only achievements are how bad their games are.

Sonic only defines SEGA if you hate them.

Makes sense. A lot of post-2K kids only grew up with Nintendo, which managed to heavily market its NES legacy titles as historical landmarks to them. While true for some, a lot of that means they're re-writing History (damaging not only to Sega's legacy), and disregarding most anything that was the beginning of full-scale 3D (AM#2 was already hard at work on this, when the SuperNES barely even existed).

Panzer Dragoon Saga would be sweet. It may be short, it may not exactly hold up well compared to modern (J)RPGs, but still is very enjoyable. I'd love a version with further draw distances and less slowdowns - and maybe with a Jean Giraud-esque cellshading filter?

VF3: From a time when arcade hardware was still light years ahead of everything else (including PC video cards). The model 3 hardware used chips from Lockheed, literally space age shit. This kind of tech was the last stand of arcade supremacy over consoles, the kind of stuff that made arcades special all the way back to the days of kids comparing their 2600 carts of Defender and Pacman to the real thing. The end of an era.

This was probably the first Sega game I ever played. It's the reason why I begged for a Master System along with Outrun, Afterburner, and Space Harrier. They were even nice enough to build in Hang On if I carelessly forgot to put a cartridge in before I turned on the system. There were many other noteworthy Sega games between this and the second coming of Sega with Model I & II, and eventually their downfall with Naomi. They were too pure for a world without arcades.

Rieko Kodama wasn't really the driving force bhind Phantasy Star...it was alot of people. Also she never managed a department or headed a team.

Anyway list of noteworthy people at Sega, that left, or are still there:

Hardware people:

Hisashi Suzuki: The oldest Sega employee, worked there since the early 60's and retired in 2004. The top arcade executive.

Hideki Sato: Introduced the ifrst commercial videogame in Japan, and then was the frontman of all Sega hardware. Left in 2004, was made president in 2001 and put Sega back into profitability (which meant cutting alot of of what we loved about Sega back then).

Masami Ishikawa: The dude who designed the SG-1000, Mega Drive, Master System along with Hideki Sato. Stil at Sega today, doing arcade stuff.

Hiroshi Yagi: Designed the Game Gear and did arcade stuff. Still does arcade stuff today.

Yoji Ishii: First standout game developer, directing Fantasy Zone, and helping Yu Suzuki.

Yutaka Segano: Made the first Shinobi and also stuff like Crackdown

Naota Oshima: The art director behind Sonic and director of NiGHTS and Burning Rangers.

The three above went to form Artoon/Arzest, which sadly is mediocore.

Rikiya Nakagawa: Helmed the AM1 lineage of arcade games since the early 80's. Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Dynmaite Cop, Alient Storm, House of the Dead etc. Left in 2003, to form...Paon, a very shitty development company, thats dead by now (Donkey Kong spin-offs like King of Swing and Barrel Blast.

Hisao Oguchi: Helmed the Am3/Hitmaker lineage of arcade games. Top Skater, Crazy Taxi, Lost World etc. etc. He was more of a manager and managed a group of five producers and nine directors. Now part of the executive structure of Sega.

Really not just AM2 were legendary but all of AM1/2/3 were brilliant.

Noriyoshi Ohba: Streets of Rage, Super Shinobi, Clockwork Knight, Sakura Wars, Skies of Arcadia...left in 2004, and is now leading a company that provides CGI development support.

Megaman Legends is another victim of that shit. I finally though to get my own copy of those games for the first time since I played them 15 years ago, a week before the Red Ash fiasco started. I managed to snag Legends 1, which hasn't gone up much in price yet, but Legends 2 is at an all time high now. Unfortunately, what this poster says is true:>>2564760

Most people don't know about the Saturn anyway. I've brought up the Dreamcast in conversation before, and a decent number of people know about things like Jet Set Radio or Sonic Adventure. If I bring up the Saturn I usually get blank stares or a "never heard of it" from most people.

Then there's the problem of what to do put in a Saturn collection, because its either dated ports or antiquated platformers, not to mention I think Sega's lost the source code for most of these games anyway.

I finally beat this today. Picked it up on 3DS and left the difficulty all on default settings. Great game, really satisfying to get the driving mechanic down.

I bought my system pre-modded online for around 100 bucks

Well worth it, can play any burned game and don't have to pay jewbay prices

This. A modded console is the best way to go. You can also disc swap but it's not good for the console and on model 2s it can be annoying to perform.

Pseudosaturn runs a hell of a lot of games, and all you need to run it is an Action Replay and do the disc swap trick once to flash the Pseudosaturn software onto the AR cart.

Is there something special I need to do to emulate the Sonic1-3 as Knuckles ROMs? I get the No Way! screen when I load up the roms.

How am I supposed to do this

>> No.2570129

>>2570125
That's only for Sonic 1. Press A+B+C and start at the same time.

>> No.2570147

>>2570129
So how do I do it for Sonic 1 then

>> No.2570179

>>2570147
I just told you, the NO WAY thing is exclusively for Sonic 1. There is no Knuckles in Sonic 1 game outside of romhacks, so it's just endless Blue Sphere.

>> No.2570223

>>2570179
Oh okay, thanks. I'll find a romhack or someting then
