What are you chasing /vr/? What franchises do you collect/play the shit out of?

I just can't NOT buy MM shit when I see it. I think I'm pretty close to everything? Notable exceptions being the entire SNES library (fuck that right now) Battle and Chase, Battle and Fighters, Wily Wars and the NES games obviously. Not Pictured: a bunch of fucking toys, the Mangas (exe and Hitoshi Ariga) some audio CDs and an X6 Wallet and I HAVE A PROBLEM.

Don't collect franchises. Makes me depressed since they all are either dead or being raped by modern gaming.

Especially Sonic Team games.

Metroid is the only franchise I went out of my way to get everything for.
The only game I'm missing is the NES Classics version of Metroid for GBA, since there's absolutely no reason to own it when it's an unlockable mode in Zero Mission.

>>2543785

Not to mention the palette in the Classic NES version looks like shit. It's really washed out. I think they did that with the original non-lit GBA model in mind.

The unlockable version in ZM looks way better.

SaGa. I have most of the English games, except Final Fantasy Legend III. Actually, I have the Japanese versions of the GB games.

I may get around to importing a Super Famicom so I can play the Romancing SaGa series, but Super Famicoms are ridiculously overpriced on the reseller market.

Why not just mod your SNES?
It's pretty easy.

>> No.2544035

Depending on the series it can be incredibly difficult.

Megaman has a deceptive number of games.

>5 GB games
>2 GBC Games (Xtreme)
>6 NES Games
>4 SNES Games (Megaman and Bass import would push it to 5)
>7 Playstation (legends, x4-6, 8)
>2 on PS2
>A whole slew on GBA and DS (Star force, Zero, Battle Network, etc)
>9 and 10 on VC.
>Powered up and Maverick Hunter X on PSP
>Compilations on PS2/GC/XBox

Compared to like Metroid, which would be like
>1 NES (original)
>1 GB (metroid 2: return of samus)
>1 SNES (super metroid)
>2 GBA (zero mission, and fusion)
>A handful on GC/Wii (prime series other M)
>Like 1 on DS (prime hunters?)

I don't think you should go out of your way to get every game in a series just because, but if you enjoy the series I think the logical step is to get more of the games since you're known to enjoy them.

I personally don't go out of my way for series, but I do have a lot of games in series.

>> No.2544039

I pretty much play almost anything related to Fire Pro. There are some other series that I'm hugely into, but they're mostly series where I only play some of the games because the rest are crap.

I own every U.S.-released Kirby game.

That's pretty much the only franchise I bother collecting for. I kind of collect Dragon Quest games, but most of the spinoffs I have no interest in and I mostly bother with the remakes. Only retro Dragon Quest game I own the original version of is 1. Only main Dragon Quest games I'm missing are 4 and 7.

Probably not, you have to deal with shipping and the wait. I'd rather disassemble a snes, clean it because it'll be yellow, and remove the tabs preventing super famicom games from playing. Then you just import the games. Unless you're the sort of sperg that needs to play region specific games on their native consoles. >not buying every re-release

Here's my problem: I have at some point in time or other owned and beaten every version of every port of every Resident Evil on every available platform. Even the digital releases and game.com game. So we're talking about:

PSX - 6 games
N64 - 1 game
Saturn - 1 game
Dreamcast - 4 games
PS2 - 6 games
Gamecube - 6 games
Wii - 5 games
PS3/360 - 5 games
digital - 6 full games and 2 add ons to RE5
Game.com (which I bought to play RE2 on) - 1 game
GBC -1 game
NDS - 1 game
3DS - 1 game

I really want a Wii U and PS4 so I can play Revelations and Revelations 2 respectively on them. But the cost is too much right now.

So that's 48 games right there. And that's just off the top of my head. I may have actually forgotten a few. And on top of all THAT, I also have all movies, all books and some action figures too. But that's just me.

The only thing I never really did there was get the PS3/360 games on both of those platforms. Same with digital. Just all one platform, because there's no differences at all.
I've also never bothered with the PC versions, but that's because I've always owned toasters, lol.

I also constantly dream up fan game ideas, but I never follow through with them.

The only other series that I came this close to total ownership (as I call it) of was Final Fantasy. But I don't recognize anything after FFX as a genuine FF, so that's out.

I'm not sure if Little Tail Bronx counts as retro or not since it's literally a series with two games, the other one not being retro and primarily part of the collection, but it's the only series I go way the fuck out of my way to buy everything I can conceivably get for the series in a desperate and pathetic attempt to give CyberConnect2 money in the dire hopes that they will eventually make a third game sometime within the next decade.

Thanks, my first time showing it. I'd like the SNES games, but at this point I'm having more fun tracking down the games than playing them. Everything I have I've found locally through hunting apart from a couple that were gifts. I almost buckled and dropped $120 on the Neo Geo Color game when I saw it in a reseller store but I couldn't justify it when it meant I'd have to buy a NGCP to play it and the power battles games are on the anniversary collection. And I emulate the arcade versions anyway

I am tempted to see if I can collect me some Ys though, got all the PSP ones and the vita one. But at the minute the only system I don't own is SNES.

Thanks. Besides getting Tail Concerto about a decade ago I've been collecting this stuff since 2011 ao I don't know exactly how much everything set me back but it's...probably a lot and more than I'd like to know. The three main artbooks I got before CC2 started putting their stuff up on Amazon and I had to specially import those through request services which was a hell of a lot more expensive than just getting them for retail. I'd say getting everything that's still in print nowadays (Several of the individual fanbooks -- the ones in the middle, collected in the Complete Collection found on the top right -- and the first two Solatorobons sold at Comiket are out of print) would set you back about $400 or so after shipping.
