It's not a dumb question. I'm jaded as fuck and think all of 7th generation is worthless. If it wasn't for that I'd just get a Wii and use that. The difference is minimal at best. I couldn't tell the difference and I own the damn GC component cables.

I bought the Wii U just for the Wind Waker remake. And it turned out there's some fun games on it. Having a controller unlike the shit that came with the Wii helps a lot too. It's getting sold though if Nintendo releases more shit like Smash DLC or I don't get an exclusive Zelda.

I don't have a PS2. Hated 480i shit in the 2000s and still hate it.
XBOX I did have while it was new but wasn't a whole lot that kept me interested in it.

>Games
Generally? Mostly-if-not nothing. You might be surprised to learn that I bought many of those games new or used eons ago, but I did fill in gaps this year far more than normal. All of the collectables in the glass cases I've had for a very long time as well, except the Japanese Final Fantasy games, which were dirt cheap.

Overall though, I don't like to throw things out or trash my stuff. Paying off, looking at current game prices.

>Setup
I also spent a lot this year on furniture (built the controller stands and the TV stand, bought the glass stands) and also a bunch on the cases/paper/ink, but that's a one time thing across the board.

>Other
Most money I generally spend is on soldering equipment and supplies for maintenance, battery replacements, custom cart work, console mods etc. But I find that hobby a lot of fun, and that's cost many hundreds. It's not all game stuff though.

Guess I didn't answer. "A few thousand" this year, but it represents more than what you see in the pictures like a new photo printer, and the TV is a replacement of a CRT. Most years, it's really near zero. Maybe 100-200. I spent more on the occasional Steam game. Again, because my tastes haven't really changed since the '90's and early '00's.

And here's my battlestation.
The key is to always have the correct display for the input signal.

Saturn, Genesis, and SNES are RGB to the PVM-20N2U

PSX, N64, DC, and PS2 are S-video to the 27" trini

The gamecube has component cables (got them when they were only $150 ugh) and the 360, PS3 and WiiU are running HDMI as god intended.
