Probably the worst I've made was selling almost all my SNES collection back in 1999/2000.
I wanted to watch Serial Experiments Lain, the internet wasn't like today and downloading HD BDrips wasn't a thing. Not even Youtube, I didn't even own a DVD player yet.
The only way to watch anime was to get the original VHSs.
So I decided to sell the old games I didn't play anymore to be able to buy the VHSs.
I went to some ratty fair that had a lot of people who bought/sold used games. They would all offer very little and scam clueless kids like me. I sold games like SMRPG and Dracula X for 10 bucks a piece.
I was able to afford the Lain VHSs, and it was a good series I enjoyed, but yeah, one of the worst decisions I've made.

Sold all my video game magazines (Tips and Tricks) from the mid and late 90's to Half Price Books for like a dollar back in 2008.

Gifted a fully functional Commodore64 with cassette player, two joysticks and a lot of tapes to a 6yo cousin because "LOL IT'S 1994 NOW I HAVE A PC WHO CARES ABOUT A C64"

During tough times back in 2004 I needed money, so I sold my copy of Harvest Moon 64 CIB and everything, for $50. Didnt play games much anymore anyway. Years later, decide I wouldnt mind playing it again as it was my favorite game, see prices, jaw drops. I still wake up in cold sweats in the middle of the night sometimes remember that fateful day

I got the NES themed GBA SP as a birthday present in 2005. I sold it a few years ago for about £15. I was recently mulling over the idea of getting an SP again.

My biggest regret was that my older brother and I didn't take the best care of our games, so a lot of our classic stuff, especially discs ended up broken, scratched up, or missing. Also discovering Rhino Games in 2002 or so and trading off a shit ton of our old Super Nintendo carts like Megaman X and the Great Circus Mystery for newer PS1 games which we would proceed to leave out of the case and let get scratched to hell and back.

First time I ever saw or heard of Lain was some late night in 2003, nothing was on and I saw Anime Unleashed in the program guide, and decided to check it out. Mine aren't "*too* terrible, mostly selling off a couple games that are now rather pricey. Specifically Kid Icarus and Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fun. I also traded away maybe half my Game Boy collection, but thanking GB is still pretty cheap and I've since bought most of it back.

Local Kmart was going out of business and they were selling Conker's Bad Fur Day half off. They had dozens of them. Instead a bought some shitty gameboy games.

Now, I was a kid at the time, so I didn't exactly have money, but it still haunts me anyway.

Shit, that's pretty much everything I owned up to the point when I got my PS2, from that point onwards I became smart enough to appreciate the value of these things, but it was too late.

Here's a random list of things that I once owned and I either sold for peanuts because I was desperate for money for whatever the new thing was at the moment, or I let a "friend" borrow them and I never got it back because he was an asshole and/or I lost contact with them :

NES :
Metroid, Megaman 1-3, Zelda I and II, Mario 3, Contra.

Game Boy :
Megaman I and FUCKING V, DK Land 2, Ice Blue Gameboy Pocket, Zelda, Mario Land 1 and 2

SNES :
Mega Man X1 and 2, Yoshi's Island, Mario RPG, Kirby's Super Star, DKC 3, Super Mario World, Super Game Boy

Genesis :
Sonic 2, Aladdin, Rocktet Knight, the console itself (model 2) with 2 controllers.

N64 :
Smash, Goldeneye, Star Fox, Mario Kart, Zelda OoT.

PS1 :
FF7 (it was a preowned copy with no box though, so eh)

I just remembered how i exchanged a FFVII for a Tenchu Fatal Shadows. I don't know how it is in USA but FFVII it's a pretty expensive game here in Europe.

Since nobody answered this guy, kinda. You're not allowed to register for a credit card before the age of 18 unless you get a parent or legal guardian to be a co-signer on it. As for debit cards/checking accounts, there's no set law. Most banks just use the same principle on their debit cards.(I know I had to have my mother co-sign back when I first got my checking account.) So basically if a kid did have a debit card (especially back when some of these stories are made), their parents would probably see the shit they're spending.

When I got my first Playstation 2, I gave my childhood friend my original Playstation even though he already had an N64. I don't know why. I just wanted to be nice.

Anyway, he sold the Playstation for a PSOne. The Playstation that I gave him had a modchip and could play copied games. I shouldn't have given him the damn thing to begin with. Not only was his family strongly against copying games, but we had a falling out.

Shit doesn't really matter. I bought an original PS1 a few years ago to replace what I once lost. Fuck that guy, though.

The SNES is all yellowish, but the cartridges are fine. MMX3 seems to be in a nicer condition in comparison to the other games.

There was a guy at Magfest this year selling Mother 1+2 translated roms on GBA cartridges. I didn't take it, but I don't think I cared all that much really, since it's not legit or anything.

Not sure. I buy all of my stuff at a local store. Their prices aren't the best but they take care of the games (every time I walk in there are 2 guys cleaning cartridges, I assume that's what they do all day). I've never had a problem with the games I've bought there, so I guess paying a bit more is okay if at least I know the product is complete and functional

When the Wii came out, I was moving to Colorado, my brother talked me into selling our N64 because "they will just release everything on the virtual console."

I passed up the opportunity to buy 30 Atari 2600 cartridges for 1 dollar each. I've only ever sold PS4 games. Disc based games do nothing for me in terms of collecting anyway.

Sold a bunch of my old Pokemon Games to a chick recently this year, a long with a few Zeldas. Got about... Hrm roughly $300-400 for Red, Blue, Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Platnium, Stadium, LoZ: Oracle of Ages/Minish Cap.

In the long term I'll probably regret it, but I don't really play them anymore, and if I did I'd just get roms.

Plus the chick was kinda into me, but she was fat - beyond chubby, like nearly if not obese unfortunately.

Maybe I'll regret not hitting that either seeing as I don't have any other prospects.

I sold my Sega Master System, SNES, Gamecube and Wii over the years. I tried selling my Mega Drive too but I couldn't find anyone who wanted it at the time. Sold most of it for super cheap too, I believe I sold the SNES with around 10 games included for €40 or so. Among the games was the Legend of Zelda and Mario Paint with the mouse. I sold my Master System for around the same price, it had around 5 games I believe. My reasoning at the time was that "it's old, so nobody wants it" and that's why I sold them for a quick buck.

I could never keep the game in the cartridge slot after I was done playing because Tommy Lasorda had a major fucking staredown at me at all times. I'd always put it away in it's case, even if I knew I wanted to play it later.

I never sell anything. The idea of cashing in games for quick bucks has never appealed to me.

I left my N64 in my back yard when I got a PS2. I also threw some genesis baseball game on the roof of my apartment's parking lot. A friend even found it up there and gave it back and to this day I can't remember what game it was. I think it had a yellow tag on it so it was EA.
