Twilight Princess was a bad offender in every regard.
It was a poorly designed game, with an ugly inconsistent artstyle, with a terrible convoluted story way too full of unneeded fanservice (Zelda and the Triforce were pointless to the story and they shouldn't have ruined Zant's character development to just randomly just Ganondorf into the story when he isn't even needed) and asspulls.
Not to mention the absolutely empty and boring Hyrule field and most of the dungeons being bland and tedious.
A complete lack of challenge as well. The boss in the water temple was practically a parody of Zelda villains.

Halo 1 (specifically the CE version for PC) (wasn't really focused on multiplayer until the second, first had a great story mode and a lot of awesome levels with the exception of Library)

Metroid Prime (yes, it was mostly a platformer but it was definitely an FPS as well)

Far Cry 4 (grappling hook makes things so much fun)

Half Life 2 (I honestly never really got into this game but I can see that it's a good game and worth the praise it gets)

Doom (simple but perfect)

Call of Duty 4 (had a fantastic campaign mode. The only CoD game I've ever actually had fun with)

Perfect Dark (I haven't played it in a while so I don't quite know how good it's aged, but I remember loving this, and from what I understand from others it hasn't aged too badly)

Black (just fucking crazy fun)

Fallout 3 (yeah, your zoom screen thing did most of the killing, but it was still an FPS in most ways and is one of my favorite RPG's)

Chronicles of Riddick (specifically the Xbox 360 one, so much fun and probably one of the best descended games ever next to the first Arkham Asylum, South Park RPG, and DBZ: Legacy of Goku 2)
