Goldeneye for me.

Even better via emulation and a DS3. No autoaim and 1.2 mode.

I spent a lot of time on Harvest Moon, Star Fox, Mario and Mario kart. I'll never forget the freedom I felt when playing these. Harvest Moon is a bit hard to get re invested in after all these years, but everything else has excellent replay value. I find Goldeneye and Smash Bros. Extremely un-fun after having played much better versions of them or similar games with actual controls.

Star Fox will never be the same without that controller on the other hand.

Similarly, Mischief Makers will probably never feel right when emulated.

I can't even begin to describe the nostalgia trip I feel when thinking of ANY 64 game though really. I imagine most people in this board totally understand.

I just posted that but now I geek like I have have to go on and on about nostalgia. FUCK. I just can't shake that feeling of bitter sweet desire to experience a world that feels immersive and infinite even though the maps were hilariously small looking back at them. I just clung so desperately to the tiny little details that the worlds became so real in my head... Man. Being a child with video games during your parent's nasty divorce is really some next level escapism... I want the simplicity of being able to choose my world at a moments notice back.

N64 is one of the worst consoles in history. Horrible controller, tons of subpar games including "popular" games made specifically for kids that didn't know any better, and cartridges in a time of CD-ROM domination.

The NES is still the best pure console, and the Commodore 64 beats them all from a retro platform standpoint, with DOS a close second.

I'm pretty sure most N64 games were made specifically for Everyone. Not counting it has a lot of rated T and M games. I sure remember playing wrestling games or Perfect Dark with friends back then.

however, since you love Commodore and DOS so much, I bet you can find a lot of games that were actually made specifically for children there. I reccommend opic related, you might enjoy it, tough boy!

The N64's library was pretty unique, when you see games on the N64 that were exclusives and not on PC or Playstation they have a very specific aeshtetic that only N64 games had. Like when you see even third party games like the Goemons, Snowboard Kids or Chameleon Twist, they could've only been on N64.

As opposed to what? PCs? the N64 was more powerful than desktop PCs at release, up until the first 3dfx cards came out. There's a reason why even PC magazines at the time praised the N64.

>shit-tier picture and sound

Maybe if you grew up during the 6th gen, then I can understand you thinking N64 (and PS1, and Saturn) had "shit-tier" picture. In fact yeah, 5th gen in general doesn't look very good, but at least n64 has some of the best looking games of that gen, like Sin and Punishment.

NOT TRUE. I own the game and it runs perfectly, and at a higher resolution.

There was a thread about EMULATING the collector's edition that featured complaints, but that was about emulating the collection, not playing the actual disk. I think this guy may have read that thread and misunderstood.

I've been playing it on an actual GC anon, and I was the one he was responding to... Majora's Mask has audio glitches and a terrible framerate on the collection; I was just curious if the framerate was an issue on the original too (the game ITSELF warns you about audio glitches when you boot it up). OoT may be a different story, though.
