but I just completed Underground again today.

Great game. The recreations of The Hangar, School II and Venice Beach are brilliant.

The alternate ending where you elbow Sparrow in the face is fucking beautiful.

got THUG2 installed for ProMod and I gotta agree with the remake levels. I suspect these are from the Xbox THPS2X version since those looked too good to be a straight port of the Dreamcast version even.

Underground 2's remakes of the classics are even better. You've got so much going on in them that they feel alive.

Shame American Wasteland's remade levels were fucking awful.

Does Hangar have the control tower at the beginning? If so, it's ported from 2X. If not, it's a straight-up recreation.

You've got 2 choices.

For crazy unrealistic arcade style skating fun, go for the Tony Hawk games. Just start at 3 for PS2 since it's probably the best yet.

If you want more realistic skating simulation, play Skate 1 and 2.

>Just start at 3 for PS2 since it's probably the best yet.

No way man, grab THPS and start from the beginning. The PS1 version is the baseline version, the Dreamcast version is the exact same but with much nicer graphics (although some people don't like its d-pad as much). The N64 version is a goddamn disaster, avoid at all costs.

You have to sort of put yourself into the "It's the late 90s, I just got home from school, gonna play some THPS" mindset to truly appreciate it.

Then there is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. Again the PS1 version is solid, the Dreamcast version has much nicer graphics and a few extra visual effects (clothing rippling in the wind, for example), but is otherwise the exact same. The Xbox has a version of THPS2 called Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X that includes all of THPS2 as well as all of the original game, plus a few bonus levels. The N64 version is again complete dogshit.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is great on the PS2, has slightly better graphics (and custom soundtrack support) on the Xbox, and although it looks and runs fine on the Gamecube avoid it due to the shitty controller. The N64 version is again a total dogturd. Amusingly enough it also saw a port to the PS1 that was surprisingly solid.

THPS4 is pretty much the same as THPS 3 in terms of hardware, only no more N64 versions. The PS1 version is pretty cut down but is still a lot of fun.

After that you have Underground, Underground 2, and American Wasteland, which can all be played on your sixth gen console of choice.

The series started going downhill after the fantastic Underground, and went into a tailspin after the ok American Wasteland, so you can pretty much skip everything after that and wait for THPS5 which should be out this year.

Amusingly enough there were some pretty impressive ports of the older games for the GBA, which use an isometric view. They're worth checking out if you have the hardware. THUG2 and Project 8 were also ported to the PSP.

HELL NO, the controls were terrible for that game I had to return it and was lucky enough to be able to pick out a game of the same price or lower. Ended up getting Bugs Bunny Lost in Time which ended up being one of my favorite PS1 games.

/v/ is Nintendo fanboy central.

If the Gamecube controller is such a success then why haven't we ever seen anything like it since? Why haven't conventional controllers disappeared in the wake of its awesome, revolutionary design?

Pull your head out of your ass and look at the facts. Just because you like it doesn't mean it wasn't a massive failure and was probably one of the better reasons why the system was such a dud.

The Gamecube controller is literally the primary controller for one of, if not Nintendo's biggest titles.

If you've played the hell out of the main Tony Hawk games, it might be worth trying Tony Hawk 4 for the PSX, they had to redesign most of the game to get it to work on the Playstation, so it's almost like its own game.

Had a Pizza Hut demo disc with the Chicago Level and you could play as Tony or Kareem Campbell I think. I played as Kareem when I got the real game but switched to the special characters in 2 like Spider-Man and Officer Dick. Didn't play 3, 4 or Underground but loved Underground 2

My friend wasn't allowed to play THPS1 because his mom saw his character doing a Christ Air special and she's religious. This is the same mother who wouldn't let him play Zelda games because they had magic in them and magic isn't Christian. He'd come over to my place to play THPS1-3 and I'd go to his to play Mortal Kombat which I wasn't allowed to own.

While I share the other anons' concern about your controller preferences, this is true. Great, surprisingly playable little games.

The Wavebird is probably my favorite controller from that gen but SBX in particular felt kinda gimped with three shoulder buttons instead of four.

I like the form factor of the Gamecube controller, but I hate everything else about it.

I hate the button layout, I hate the shoulder buttons (and the fact that it only has one Z button), I hate the fact that the analog sticks are different, and I hate the D-pad.
