2455029 No.2455029 [Reply] [Original]

Sup /vr/ anon here.
I'm trying to see if anyone knows of a Fire Emblem Thracia 776 ROM that is prepatched with an English translation that is 100% complete.
I can't apply patches cause of the OS on my Windows phone and I looked all over and can't find a Thracia 776 ROM with a finished translation, if there even is a completed translation to begin with.
I asked this in A semi related thread the other day and had no luck. Can any of you anons point in the right direction?

So do it on your PC or laptop, and transfer it over.

The FE games aren't really fully translated, but they're far enough along that you can play through them.

OP here.
Yeah I read that somewhere, so the dialogue, game menus, etc. That you need to actually play the game should be ok?

Yeah, basically. I played through the fourth one no problem.

>> No.2455304

Yeah, a lot of the English translations are shoddy, to say the least, but 5 descends into gibberish about half the time. It is also coincidentally one of the worst of the series, in my opinion.
Both SNES games are currently being retranslated by some dude on tumblr, and generally speaking those will be the highest quality scripts when they come out.

Is that Genealogy of the Holy War? Cause I have that one and I had any serious issues being able to play it, so if its close to that it should be ok.

Again I'm familiar with the numerical order just the titles, I'm assuming Thracia 776 is the fifth game in the series?
Nice, any idea when they're suppose to be released? And aren't there 3 Fire Emblem games for the SNES?

Remember that Thracia 776 is a mean game that hates you, playing it blind will test your patience. My favorite thing is that accuracy is capped at 99%, and can never go lower than 1%. So no matter how much better you are than your target, there's always a chance to miss, and they'll always have a chance to hit you.

Wait till Project Narga is finished. FE5's current translation has lots of problems - I beat it like this.

>Is that Genealogy of the Holy War?

Yeah.

>Thracia 776 is the fifth game in the series

Right.

>aren't there 3 Fire Emblem games for the SNES

Yeah, 3 is divided into two halves and the first half is a remake of 1 for NES.

>> No.2457087

3 exists and is playable. Not the best translation, but some dudes over on that one FE board are fixing it up, apparently.

4 and 5 are playable, but that's the best I can say about them. Project Naga is going through and re-doing them, and it seems to be a much better project.

Everything else is more or less translated. 1&2 on the NES, and everything 6 and up are done in good quality (though not retro). 6 has a revision patch done by those same guys (serene's forest? is that it?) that fixes up and finishes the translation. It's quite nice.

>> No.2457117

FE4 should be getting a new translation patch "soon" than they'll work on FE5 after that. The current FE5 patch translates the story but has garbled menus, several annoying errors (portraits switched in dialogue, etc.), and some questionable dialogue. There's also one freeze bug, disable the HP display popup in chapters 24 and on to avoid it. It's my all-time favorite game despite the patch's problems.

Also, Tear Ring Saga (aka the Playstation Fire Emblem game) currently has an awful translation patch but it's being worked on and there should be a much better patch done by the end of the summer.

Yo OP here
Shit I missed all well I was busy today. Guess that's what I get for trying to have a live outside of 4chins.
Ok gonna do my best to reply to all you anons replies bear with me..

>>2457087
How is the difficulty compared to 4? I really wanna play 5 bur honest I've had a difficult time playing 4 and I really don't wanna use the walkthrough but I have had to here and there so I don't fuck up and have to restart. Even with that it's still not that easy for me.

>>2457073
Ahh ok I should have just looked it up way sooner, I just didn't really care enough to actually go do it. Thanks for layin it out for me anon good lookin out.

>>2455468
Well I already downloaded, should I at least try it out or is it so bad that it's not even worth starting?
Also I read there are 2 different incomplete English patches out right now. If I understand correctly one has a fucked up story translation, but ok menu translations, and the other is the exact opposite (shit menus and ok dialogue) I think I got the latter, is that the more acceptable one?
>pic related
>screenshot of title in my emulator.

>>2455438
Oh ok I get it now, I played Mystery of the Emblem/3 and I don't like it, just didn't find it at all interesting, maybe because I had already started 4 which to me is just all around a better more fun game.
Why'd they split 3 like that? That makes absolutely no sense to me.

>>2457117
Yeah I heard Thracia is one of the better ones on SNES. I really like 4 even though it's difficult for me cause I'm new to RTS games(Front Mission is the first one that I beat as far as I know or can remember finishing) so I have been wanting to play Thracia really bad.
I don't think this question was answered yet as far as I know, but any estimated/mentioned time on when they'll have the new English patch for 4 and 5 or at least 5 done? Or is it just "eventually" at this point in time?

Shit guys that was fuckin intense hope I replied to everyone and that they made sense.

FE5 is considered one of the hardest games in the series, however I think the difficulty is often overstated; the level design is great in that it punishes you for poor decisions but can be beaten easily and reliably if you put some thought into your moves. It's definitely quite a bit harder than FE4, though.

I advise you not to use a walkthrough in FE5. There's lots of nasty surprises in store for you, but the game always gives you an opportunity to adapt to the situation and recover even on a blind playthrough.

However, I'm worried you'll just find it too hard and not be able to appreciate the level design since you're new to TRPGs. Maybe put FE5 aside for now and come back once you've played some other games.

>>2457543
4's difficulty mainly has to do with being alert with the TALK conversations and having an idea on how the pairing system works. Even then. Sigurd and Seliph are strong enough to do most of it alone.
