So, which version? MSX2 or Sega CD? I dug up an old copy of my SCD version, and it's nice to justify my SCD hardware but after playing MGS Ground Zeroes, I realized Kojima decided to use the msx version of a certain track. This leads me to believe Kojima felt the MSX2 version was superior. Lucky for me I have an MSX lying around a megaflashrom, but I still don't know if it's a good idea to move to the MSX just because of what I stated above. I'm enjoying the SCD version so far but Ive put it to a halt just to gather some thoughts.

The computer version lacks voice acting, which is great in both language versions. Metal Gear and Gillian's dialogues are half the fun in this game. Also, you don't get the final act unless you play the CD version.

If you understand Japanese (there is no official translation for the MSX2 one) you want the PC-Engine version, since it is uncensored.

Wha? MSX version isn't translated? Shit. Nevermind then, SCD it is.

He said official. There's a pretty good fan-translation.

I see. Then this thread shall stay open. I'd like to hear more thoughts. Ive read how the pc-e version has the most thought put into the script by kojima while the others were done by mere konami employees. I just don't know which fucking version is the best now I NEED HELP

The Sega CD version is the only officially translated version, it has all acts and voice acting, and as much as I hate translations usually, this one is fantastic. I can't see how this is even a contest.

The Sega CD is the best. Kojima may have used the MSX song because it's likely more people in Japan played the MSX version of Snatcher since it was huge over there or because he felt it was more fitting since it Metal Gear also started on the MSX.

Good point. Forget it then, I will stick to my CD version. I always get so frusturated over which version to play for certain games. It is a trend I do not agree with at all.

The MSX2 was always intended to be the base platform of Snatcher, since that was what Konami primarily developed their games for, but PC-8801 was the easier version to develop for since most MSX computers didn't have built-in disk drives.

For some reason I didn't get to upload my intended image, which is the initial advertisement announcing the game primarily for the MSX2 with a side-note saying that a PC-8801 version is also coming. Same thing with this ad.

At least that one got uploaded fine. Let's see if this one makes it too.

I'm glad that everyone is going the best route and suggesting the SEGA CD version, but you're all glossing over the obvious fact that the SEGA CD version has a whole fucking additional final act that the previous versions don't.

Now that I see this gif, does any emulator emulate SD Snatcher the way it ran originally? I tried to play it in the early 2000s, but they all seemed to have some sort of problem or another, like the way the combat behaved was completely different with different emulators.

The Sega CD version is better in every single way except for being slightly less sexy and you can just look at the nude versions of those three scenes online easily online. Also what's her face, the dude's daughter is supposed to be 15 not 18.

>> No.2457846

The PC Engine version is supposed to be the definite release of Snatcher in Japan, which is the one the Sega CD version was based on to begin with.
