It needs many trains since they are distributed over two stations. I tried running it in block sectioned mode so I could shorten the stations, but it doesn't seem to work so well for Möbius coasters. Not to mention trying to build a saved Möbius track design in block sectioned mode instantly crashes the game, at least for me.

On another note, if a ride has more than one exit, can mechanics use any of them to repair the ride? I always have mechanics patrol in front of my roller coaster exits, so I kind of wondered if I have to cover both or just one exit of a Möbius coaster.

What he said. Be mindful when making turns right after big drops as they will dramatically increase lateral g's therefore making your coaster a lot more intense. It's all relative to the coaster type, really. There are some universal standards like with inversion based coaster types, but usually you should look towards a real life version of any coaster type to get a good idea of it.

Vertical drop coasters for instance, as the name implies, gain a lot of excitement from having vertical or near vertical drops and hills, also loops provide a good amount, usually when I'm making one of those terrain based 10+ excitement ones I use interlocking loops, the second of which is placed far enough after the first to keep intensity low. The problem with extremely high excitement coasters is unless you're really good at designing them they end up looking like a clusterfuck.

On a type of coaster without inversion, say a tall height steel of various types, you'll want a lot of airtime hills and long sweeping turns, usually in real life the ride will devolve from those hills into a more twister woodie kind of design before going back to the station. THis provides a variety in game that usually adds well to excitement over just an out and back hill coaster.

On coasters with inversions of various kinds what you always want to keep in mind is speed while inverted, this will get a ton of leeway in your design by lessening average G forces over the entire duration. Generally speaking you'll want to be between 16-27ish mph at maximum (usually that high only in purely vertical inversions with no rolls) and this will allow you to pack more inversions in, increasing excitement and keeping intensity relatively low. On these types of coasters it's very hard to keep intensity down in general, but you'll want to do what you can as more inversions means higher excitement.

On wooden coasters it's kind of more open to your interpretation, i've had some wacky woodies end up being high excitement, while a tried and true compact style has gotten me way too low ratings before. In general what you want is a lot of airtime I think.

Continuing this abortion of a post in terms of length, for coasters of a more individualized type like your bobsleds, flying turns, spiral coasters, side frictions, you'll want to probably stick to conventional real world designing to achieve the best excitement (although I do have a very nice and rather strangely made spiral coaster here i'm proud of)

I think really though excitement is relative, the rides I feel like would be the most exciting to experience in real life are nowhere near what the game itself rates ultra highly. What I shoot for usually when i'm not messing around with one coaster type until I can lock down general elements is aesthetic track design.

The way you utilize the environment around a coaster is also VERY important, and can mean the difference between a 9 and a 10.30+ extreme coaster. In the case of that RAgu one the scenario was perfect for following the gentle slopes and utilizing mountaintops in the drop, adding extra excitement from going underground multiple times along the way, and utilizing a double pass under the walkway overhead where peeps can see the awful saucy future they are in store for.

This post is getting huge too so i'll just leave you with the advice to always take note of elements created by others in game and in real life, and build something you think would be fun to ride.

Yeah smooth out that part after the first drop and you could get the intensity closer to 7 without affecting the excitement too much.

If you could fit a larger turn without losing too much speed for the rest of the coaster or a shorter first drop it'd be a perfect coaster.

Here's a better tidbit.
It sounds like the cars just aren't sturdy enough for 14 inversions, especially since it starts off with a slow roll it's got to be sturdy.

Basically the staff sent an empty car through but didn't bother to wait for it to return to the station before sending a car loaded with guests through after. Since it crashed, they didn't even wait for it to reach the next block section either.

A shame, The Smiler's a really good ride when it's not falling apart.

I don't know if there's an actual thing like this but I was thinking about it for a coaster element, not necessarily in RCT but whatever

so, banked turn, go into a helix. Except it continues banking, so the helix curls outward and flips you upside-down completely at about mid-way, before continuing to bank upwards so you're level again, or even curling further to keep you banked.

is this a thing that exists? basically thinking a barrel/heartline roll combined with helices.

Ok, well here's the current situation. Nowhere near completion but I'm surprised that the most profitable ride in the park are the river rapids. Now I've ignored them in favour of rollercoasters in the past but if the current trend of water rides being ace as fuck continues, I may have to put some research into them.

No, it's actually the second most expensive behind the woodies which leads me to believe running costs are proportionate to the amount of cars or trains on the ride which if justifiable. In any case it's irrelevant because the finance table calculates ride income and running costs separately.

The game still chugs on large/complex parks. Either that or my i7 870 just isn't fast enough for Rollercoaster Tycoon.

OpenRCT saves screenshots to Documents\OpenRCT2\screenshot. Unfortunately the program cuts off the top corner of the map, so you still have to go back in, take a couple of regular screenies and stitch them back on in Photoshop. Still saves a lot of time compared to the old method.

The standard jew kart and the Swinging Inverter Ship were both built at the same time 3 years ago and have made a similar total profit. The full station Go-Kart at the bottom is a design I have elsewhere in the park and it's made $32k in 2 years.

The two tile station jewcarts aren't about efficiency, it's about peep return on investment. When a peep pays to go on a swinging inverter ship, that's an actual RIDE. People have fun on those. When they pay to ride a maxstation track, they get to open up the throttle, go fast. People have fun with that.
But when they pay to go on a tiny little track, they don't get to accelerate, because there's no room to. Just two u-turns and a few feet of straightaway. They're paying for an unfun experience. And THAT'S why two tile station is the best jewcart setup.

Who would I be to deny such a request? Sorry about quality, I just learned how to produce WebMs.

The coaster is supposed to go 10 laps but actually do 13 since the game is not running fast enough to perceive both the arrival at and the departure from the station at speeds over 300km/h.

I originally built it to listen to the amazing sound twisters produce at over ~280km/h and then wondered what intensity I'd get if I filled half the track with inversions. It'd probably be possible to go to insane levels of I if you just kept building.

Update on the Vidya Valley attempt and it seems I've hit a wall. And the problem I have is with the games programming.

To beat this map it is a necessity to have a $20 ride. Now a 11.20 excitement Splash Boat is but a 12.40 excitement Giga somehow is not. The guests simply will not ride it for any more than $16.50. I thought it was a bit strange that a 5.60 excitement log flume lasted 5 years at $10 and a 8 excitement Twister Coaster did not. With similar results in the River Rapids I can confirm without a doubt that water rides are OP as fuck.

THE RIDE NEVER ENDS!

Well... I done some work in the Canyon collab park. Someone add itself into the proyect, this map is masssive and can contain many collaborations, much improvisation is needed, also entrance part is still intact.

Redo it without extracting, make sure it works, then do the extraction again while being careful of what you do exactly?

Alternately just download the GOG version and use that.

inspired by that one anon's mini-giga a little while back.

Decided to mess around with making an open-air station, instead of my usual giant station complexes. Can't figure out a good way to hide the ugliness of the entrance building.
