Super Metroid
Boss fights too variable, some are easily nerfed. Insane amount of obscure secrets. Some abilities only used once or twice. Endgame is a huge step up in difficulty, not really a progression.

Die monster, you don't belong in this world voice acting. Economy is stupid, the most expensive items costs triple the amount of money you make in a max playthrough. Despite the huge amount of weapons, really only 2 or 3 are worth using. The bullshit unfair clock tower. Final boss fight is the easiest fight in the game.

Most armor and weapons are useless because others are such a good choice. You are practically invincible by Level 20. GotY steam edition has no option to disable DLC. Half a dozen voice actors for dozens of characters.

You can spend hours in the simulator trying to get one skill for someone.

Then you go to get the skill on someone else, and you get it immediately.

Don't grind for skills, the game turns into a joyless slog.

The story is a mess
The battle system tries too hard to be different, and ends up not delivering
There's like, 3-4 towns? And there's barely any change between Home-Another versions of them.
A shitton of characters but you'll always end up using the same 5-6.
They tried to remove grinding by taking out random battles and exp, but the loot you need to grind for to make the best shit completely invalidates that

It was so bugged, Square was too ashamed to release it in the West ( but it seemed ok for japs standards ). Some stats and mechanics don't work at all ( crits ), and a lot of abilities are broken.

The combat is slower than you'd expect from an action RPG and often consists in mashing A and press B once in a while. You are also very dependent on a dumb as fuck AI, and it's not uncommon to see of of your partners get stuck if any obstacle blocks his path.

Magic is a central part of the game, but it's also completely useless. Offensive magic is utter garbage asides from one specific spell only one character can learn if she has the correct class. This makes a lot of other classes useless.

Well, it is really simple.

You had to pay 2 games to have the full product.
The first half is the easiest and yet it is the one with a save function, making Sonic 3 without the other half the weakest among the genesis sonic games.

Is a nice platrom game, the first levels are pretty easy, but do it without die and take all boxes may be pretty hard (required to reach the final of the game).
Increasing difficulty, very dificult bonus stages, two bonus levels if you win the bonus stages.

Magic system was poorly designed and completely useless.

The story once humans get revived could have been much better. It looses the gravity of the first half of the game. You go from raising continents and terraforming the planet to looking for some spoiled chinese telepath in the desert.

Submissions are ridiculously overpowered to the point that the MMA fighters and catch wrestlers can win in less than 30 seconds, and the hit detection on the ropes is fucked and doesn't detect wrestlers during moves so they go right through it to the floor if you're too close.

Some stages in SMB have bullet bills flying at you from off camera. This is a cool idea, but in some parts of the stage when you take long jump between platforms a bullet will appear AFTER you've left the ground, and there can be no way for you to slow down without falling to your death so you either fall or just take the hit.

The voice acting is awful in either language, and that's a bad sign. Beginning of the game is plagued with that stupid fetch quest. Tower of Temptation is an awful dungeon most people don't even bother with. They recycled the sprites for many of the bosses. The spin off game did the same thing too. You can't go back to previous areas, ever. You're forced to continue on, so if you missed that all important mana egg then you're fucked. In fact, getting stuck is one of the biggest problems in the game. There are a lot of dungeons that once you're in them you then can't get out again. If you need to train more or buy more items, you just can't do that, and you may well need to start over. You have a limited item slot per character, and you don't have a save point after the first of the final bosses. There's only a storage box. If you didn't stock it up with powerful healing items and SP restoring items earlier in the game then you're more than likely screwed. That's the main problem in Grandia; the game's theme is all about freedom, yet it's one of the most constraint roleplaying games out there.
