best port/version of Rayman 2?

>> No.2435670

DC port, with PC a close second though you'll want a USB controller

>> No.2435693

>>2435670
Why is USB better than Gameport?

A little bit off-topic, but what did /vr/ think of Rayman 2? I found it kind of lacking compared to other 3D platformers of it's time when I played through it recently.

>> No.2435720

>>2435645
I think it doesn't matter.
I have the PC version and I emulated the N64 version recently. I didn't notice any major differences.

very solid game. what do you mean by lacking? I only don't like that combat feels so forced. it almost turns into a turnbased RPG combat whenever you fight a robopirate. other platformers make combat way shorter and snazzy.

>what do you mean by lacking?

I don't know, I just wasn't as impressed with it as I was with Spyro, Crash, Banjo, Conker, etc.

And yeah, the combat wasn't too great, but I did enjoy the race sections (aside from the one in the swamp, it was hell on a keyboard.

>it was hell on a keyboard

lol I know.

Thats because n64 was the first, followed by PC almost right after.

Then the rest. PS1 has a lot less levels but some new bossfights, dreamcast has more 3d models and less sprites etc. A lot of actual difference, hence the question.

Isn't Rayman 2 the game with THE most ports and versions, ever made?

>> No.2435876

Does Rayman 2 DC have that annoying over-world or is it the same as the PC version where you pick stages?

>> No.2436069

>>2435809
You must be new here.

>> No.2437208

Do you enjoy having to fuck with gameport?
That other guy is wrong though, it's PC > N64 = DC > PS1 >>>>> Skylanders Shit >>>>> PS2

You're thinking about the god awful PS2 version, what a wasted port. DC is the same progression as the other versions sans PS2 but with a different visual layout.

You got a picture to show me? I loved the dark map.

What is wrong with the PS2 version?

>> No.2437318

It sure as shit isn't PC. Unless you like jumping with the shoulder button or some other random button because Ubi couldn't into control binding.

They've ported Rayman 2 to everything under the sun, except for PC a second time, which it desperately needs in 2015.

You're better off emulating any other version over playing the native PC port. I'd say either Dreamcast, or PS2 if you want to see the new features of Revolution like the hub-world (which isn't that great).

>> No.2437469

>>2435645
Dreamcast. PC and N64 are nice too. PS2 adds a lot of weird shit.

>> No.2437471

>>2435876
DC had that delicious 3D DKC like map.

>> No.2437624

Dreamcast, although I thought the PS1 version had a better final boss. That's literally the only advantage though.

Feels so good to use A and B on an X360 controller to jump and shoot.

I have the GOG version. The controls can't be rebound at all.

download a pirated copy of xpadder

>> No.2439014

>>2438290
What'll that do? Isn't xpadder like JoyToKey? JoyToKey only binds gamepad buttons to keyboard so you can't have analog movement. Does xpadder fix that? Cause if it doesn't that's a nonanswer and emulating Dreamcast would still be better.

N64. I prefer the gibberish they used instead of the voice acting, makes it sound ethereal.

>> No.2439074

only ps1/ps2 versions had voice acting, all others has gibberish
