Any great shoot em ups for SNES that you guys would recommend? I played aero fighters and r-type 3 and really liked what they had to offer. In your opinion, what are the top-tier games of this genre for the SNES?

I guess that's why retards and children gravitated toward Nintendo while people with taste played SEGA.

That's just rude, the original games in there are fine it's just the arcade ports that suffer.
It's true, though, if you are really serious about the genre you'll have to switch to a more powerful console eventually.
By the way, there's no lag if you play on ZSNES.

Yes. Most stages don't have forced scrolling and you move on foot with your aim being whatever direction you are moving. It is sort of a borderline shmup to me, but I really like it so I listed it.

E.D.F. (Earth Defense Force). Played it a ton as a kid. You get to choose your weapon of choice before the stage, each with different pros and cons (except grenade, grenade is balls), and you gain exp and level up, which makes your weapon more powerful, and lets these two weird shield things you have do different stuff. At the very least, it's on the Wii Channel shop (not sure about Wii U), it's worth at least a play-thru.

Konami pulled out some really neat stuff though, I think you just didn't play enough SNES games. Let me guess, probably a single-system owner as a kid? Don't feel bad, not all households could afford more than 1 consoles at a time.
Sucks for the kids though, growing up as an idort is what gives you the true good taste in video games.

Darius Twin is fun. Had it as a kid but I don't get into shmups very much

You mean like Gradius III, one of the worst games when it comes to offensive slowdown?

>Let me guess, probably a single-system owner as a kid?
Had both when the systems were relevant. Nice try though Nintendork.

>> No.2433880

>>2433872

Gradius has slowdowns even on Gradius V for PS2, most of the time it's intentional.
Try playing Pop'n TwinBee sometime. Or for non-shmup Konami games, play some Goemon.

For some reason I don't believe you.

Actually, the Gradius III PS2 version removed the "intentional" slowdown, so you're full of shit. And I don't recall any severe slowdown in GV, at least not on the same level as SNES Gradius III.

Definitely not on the SNES game though, that game lagged like a bitch even with very few on screen.

Neckbeards were too busy playing DOS games. The cool kids had SEGA. The beta losers had SNES.

>> No.2433901

>>2433886

I said most of the time, of course the SNES Gradius III has more slowdowns compared to the arcade.
And yeah GV has slowdowns, although they're all intentional, typical Treasure flare, it's slowdown to make huge explosions look cooler.

Why are you so angry at the SNES or Nintendo though? Even if the SNES was better suited for RPGs, it still has shmups worth playing. If you were truly an idort as a kid, you'd know.

In my eyes, the cool kids had both Sega and Nintendo.
Then the uncool rich kids had Nintendo, and the uncool poor kids had Sega.
