early 3D accelerators do that. Higher rendering resolution, bilinear filtered textures, and perspective correct texture mapping.
DOSBox by itself does not support 3D acceleration though, so you'll have to look for one of the glide-capable forks. And of course you have to find the DOS version of GTA. The Windows version is available for free from Rockstar itself.

Are you sure?
It looks like it has slots for pictures where items should go, and when I played it there was only text for items, and there were more action buttons.

Pic related, I got it from Google, but it looks more like the version I had on my old computer.

Were there versions with pictures for items? Because I remember (non-English speaking country) not knowing what a Staple Remover was, and getting no hint from any pictures when I played it.

3? There never was a 3. Monkey Island is a story of exactly two games. AND DON'T DARE TELL ME OTHERWISE

I'm only semi-kidding. as far as I heard 3+ were good/ok games, but I really dislike what 3 did to big whoop, and refuse to acknowledge the successor games to be anything else but forced sequels. 1 and 2 told a complete story.

Since I didn't play 2, I can't say how bad it was. I just got 3 (curse) for free by subscribing to a gaming magazine.

The thing I remember the most of it was playing on hard mode (Mega Monkey) and ending up on the hotel/volcano island without the worm-filled biscuit and from what I figured being unable to continue because I couldn't get the HAIR OF THE DOG thing.

So that was my memory of Monkey Island 3. I guess I missed something obvious, but I sure couldn't get past that point.

The game itself is excellent and fun, but I want to use this screenshot to mention something that bothered me quite badly back then: mixing (realtime) CG images with actors or real footage. 3 and 4 are different games both good, but definitely different from what gilbert did.
I honestly like 4 more than the others since the comedy is more satirical instead of being cheesy.

And please let the hate for escape from monkey island end, at the time the hate started because the game was different and gamers felt cheated since they expected a ron gilbert game, but now people can enjoy the game on its own.
