This is what I have for Genesis and Master System. I have always been an nes/snesfag so I don't know what to get. Can you recommend me games? Please no multi-plat or master system games that have been ported to genesis.

any Treasure game (you have Alien Soldier, so you'd probably like their other stuff)
Taz Escape From Mars

I bought snes repros from a cheap place and my budget allowed for 2 extra games, so I chose Alien Soldier and Pulseman (60hz copies). Just wanted to expand the genesis lib a little and both games are fun. A lot more fun than Vectorman at least.

I always thought of chaos as a sonic 3 port until this thread though, so that was my bad. Reading about it now is pretty mind blowing, although I do hope that sonic Chaos isn't available in 50hz only.

For fucks sake I hate using mobile so I'm sorry in advance if I type things that dont make sense.

I meant to say that I never knew about chaos and always thought the genesis trilogy was ported from sms, but having read about it, the success of the genesis games spawned 3 new sms sonic games which is pretty weird. Sega was such a damn weird company.

>> No.2422805

>Sega was such a damn weird company.
Hell yeah they are. Sega is such a backward company, porting MegaDrive games to the previous generation instead of doing the opposite like any sane people would do. I guess they were really banking on Sanic's success.
Oh well, I got to play these games on SMS as a kid, so I'm not gonna complain.

>> No.2422813

Hey OP, I was once in the same boat as you, a long-time Nintendo fag who finally got a Genesis. On top of the games you already have, here's what I would recommend:

Shinobi 3
Shadow Master: The Secret of Shinobi
Chiki Chiki Boys
Ristar
Wonder Boy in Monster World

And I second (third?) Gunstar Heroes and Comix Zone. Comix Zone is hard, but worth checking out for the awesome graphics and inventive presentation.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World kinda sucks, tbh. The controls feel "mushy" and they switched the jump and attack buttons which feels really awkward. Lost Stars is a weird arcade port, simple game but lots of Japanese weirdness like farting enemies and sampled screaming when Alex dies. Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is breddy gud.

The first Zillion is actually a Metroid style game. The second game is a scrolling action shooter. I like both.

>Fuck Vectorman, boring as all shits.

It was your vanilla bog standard 90s platform game, with gimmick transformations.

The thing is, it had INCREDIBLE graphics. The title screen alone has so much shit going on that I can't figure out how they got it working; another level does snes style mode 7, the prototype had a giant 3d vectorman running animation... and some levels are just plain aesthetically pleasing, like Nightscape.

Now the sequel, that one was boring as shit.

I say try to get a couple of Psygnosis games in your library. Puggsy, Fatal Rewind, Wiz 'n' Liz, maybe Lemmings. Some are available on other systems as well, but they play well on the Genesis. Avoid the Shadow of the Beast games -- 1 is optimized for PAL Systems, it'll play too fast on NSTC systems. Haven't played 2 to tell you enough about it, but I can only assume it may have the same issues.

Alright, it's SLIGHTLY more complicated then.

Just find the 3 spots on the PCB as shown in pic related ( note that it is from a PAL SMS, B and C should normally be wired together on a NTSC console ).

Cut the wire on the A spot but leave it soldered to B (extend it using spare wire and insulating duct tape).

Solder wires to A and C and weld everything to a switch and here you go.

You're also gonna need to drill the hull of your console for the switch.

I know it doesn't sound simple, but it really is.
