Have you played Atari today?

Yes, played a round of hero, like always.

Since this thread is up, I was wondering:
I saw a Atari 7800 with 2 controllers in pretty good condition for $60, is it worth picking up? I've been meaning to pick one up for awhile & I'm starting to regret the ones I've passed up when I wasn't interested. I'm willing to hold off on it since I know it isn't going anywhere and I want to ask people at garage sales if they got any before I go on an buy it, but I was just wondering if $60 is a good price.

I'm considering doing that with my Atari Lynx sometime today.

No, Atari games are pretty horrible in graphics and gameplay mechanics. It was true in the beginning and it's true today.

That price could be a little better. I would say $40 sounds fair.

played Ms. Pac Man on the 2600 to celebrate Pac Man's birthday. I don't know why, but I like this version better than any other port. Maybe it's the maze layout.

>tfw your high score was 49990

Well, there's nothing I can do about the price since it's a retail store selling it, but it comes with one game...so yeah, that's something. I know I can probably do better, but that's why I'm going to garage sales and flea markets before I put up and go buy it.

Yup, play a few rounds of Kaboom or River Raid every now and again. Thinking about moding my 2600 to use composite outputs, has anyone done any mods to their systems?

>> No.2428291

>>2428242
Don't. There's no point in mutilating a piece of history especially when the video will literally not look any better.
If you want nice output, get a heavy sixer and connect it to a good CRT.

>> No.2428579

>>2420608

If it's a Model 1, I'd say go for it.

The model 1 has a rectangular opening in the left side of the case: an expansion port for peripherals that never came out. The model 2 has a depression in the plastic where the opening should be, and the model 3 has nothing there.

You want a model 1, because it's the only version of the Atari 7800 that works with the 2600 analog paddle games. The models 2 and 3 had slightly different circuitry on the board and aren't backwards compatible with the analog paddles, so you lose out on games like Breakout and Pong Sports.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, never even knew there were different versions. Will check that out soon this week, thanks anon.

not today since my TV-Computer connection cable is most likely damaged and i tested it using two Atari coputers, not to mention i don't have proper /vr/ CRT analog tv for them yet. But eventual replacement for that cable troubles me more

I attempted it. That was a mistake. I realized my soldering skills were not up to par about halfway through. Had to buy another 7800. There really isn't that much benefit from it. I wanted to do try it because my RF plug was sorta messed up. It was sorta loose internally.
