my local video store actually rented this bootleg game that came with a warning label saying it didn't run on late model NESs

Never rented the game, I think it was something about fighter planes. The cart wasnt anything like a regular nintendo cartridge

Even as a kid that shit looked sketchy ro me

Perhaps a Tengen game?

There were other knock off carts out there too. The most sketchy thing about them is to bypass the lock out chip was to voltage spike the CIC.

Just a side note, Tengen carts didn't voltage spike. They actually tried to reverse engineer the lock outs, gave up, called the patent office posing as some lawyers or some such shit, and lifted the plans to make their own chips.

I remember a friend of mine and I just loved the shit out of Captain America and the Avengers in the arcade. We discovered it was out on the SNES and rushed to Blockbuster to rent it.

Oh man, what a turd of a port this was. We tried to take it back and get something else, but the lady behind the counter was like "Too bad!"

Bitch.

Battletoads on Sega.
I shit you not. Nowadays everybody loves them and thinks of it as about some kind of cult classic, but back then it was just a random boring beat em up.
It was a year i was playing kickas Sega games like Contra Hard Corps or Dynamite Headdy with unique ideas and neat 2d graphics.
Battletoads ruined my weekend because parents wasnt giving me money for sega cartriges that often.
However at the other day i run to the store and was begging the guy to exchange that stupid game for something else.
Got ecco the dolphin 2 tides of time. It was awesome.

At this day i still dont understand what's so special about battletoads. I guess its just because people like to play it together and how hard it its. To me none of those things is a plus.

My complaint is that you have to play those beginning Spider-Man levels again every time you game over. So the first time you play it and end up dying trying to figure out what the hell to do in each X-Men's scenario, fucking up and then having to play those Spider-Man levels again and again. I wouldn't be surprised that is exactly what those e-celebs are saying having never seeing them trash it.

Anyone remember this (gem)? Rented it at a local video store way back when. Didnt even know it was a 7up sponser, just thought it looked cool.

(after recently finding a copy, plays horribly, but due to isometric controls that were pretty outdated by that gen for a platformer) it is actually kinda fun when you get used to it, and has some challenge and pattern recognition.

me and my friend has some awesome times playing this instead of gowing to school.
We even had a super master plan - i was putting my sega into my backpack like im preparing for school and was wandering around in my town at morning - waiting when my friend's mom will go to work.
Then i was going to his place and we were playing this game.
May be it sucks at the very beginning but when you in a 2 players mode AND using those "summon superheroes" tokens...it was awesome.
At the end you can even summon Morbius the vampire to beat the crap out enemies.
