Sure. There isn't much new content for lower levels but everyone, facc and pacc, gets an exp boost under level 50 (albeit the boost decreases slightly with each level until 50) so getting to the more interesting stuff is faster but your skills don't get the same boost.

There are fewer players these days although it's difficult to pin down just how many they've lost as manasitting/manual training are dead and pacc bonus stam makes it better to hunt for shorter periods day to day all of which affects the current online counts. Add to that with each year they also further expand the size of the game with updates so there are less people staying on for extended periods of time and more places for them to go making for a deserted landscape (well, there's still plenty of bots to get in the way).

Some people also completely avoid public channels out of fear that they'll slip up and get banned by either their enemies or the lurkers who can't wait to report every little thing for shits and giggles.

Roshamuul: also scary. For now at least, since it was my first time here.

Well, it's been a long while, but I guess I should play again. I love Tibia, but it was one of the first games I played and the penalties of dieing were so harsh I never got far.

Should I go Paladin? I want to be able to solo if I can't find any good community to join (although I have a good hunch I could find a good one in this thread) and still contribute if I get in a guild.

Also, are there some general hints and tips for a returning player? I don't mind the grinding, but I do care about efficiency.

I personally find Paladins get old really fast and they're the least required voc for teamhunts.

If you have the funds for it, you're able to solo every voc really.

As for general tips, if you can spare some money, you can take premium scrolls into the game and sell them for 1.6kk+ for a kickstart and not having to worry about waste or equipment. Offline training is a thing now (premium only though) so the skill grind is almost non-existent.

knights and druids are always in demand so don't worry what you pick
both can be quite frustrating to play depending on your play style

knights have to constantly chug the weakest mana potion to get mana back so they'll often carry something like 85% mana pots and 15% health pots
druids have to chug a lot of pots also due to having to cast exura sio very often

honestly you might find the most fun going sorc
you'll often be wanted for teamhunts when people have a druid and knight already
you'll deal a lot of damage and won't have to worry about chugging pots nonstop or making sure that nobody dies and you can solo hunt just fine

once you hit 50 you should do the ancient scarab task 3 times
decent exp, good money and boss has a 15% chance to drop an item that sells for around 150-200k

after that you can either hunt water elementals or do the crystal spider task

Well, I've gotten to level 20. Had quite some fun exploring and getting back in touch with Tibia.

The lack of spell arsenal and merchants is quite visible as a free account - and I'm not quite ready to jump to premium just yet.

Are there any surefire ways to make good money as a low level sorcerer? I feel I'm lacking in item upgrades because I'm too scared to invest my money in them, and in that I have no idea what good low level magic user items are anyway.

I was hunting in Folda when a pk slightly above my level appeared and attacked me, i started running into the cave and going down ladders with him chasing me, then we ran into this room full of orc warriors, they nearly killed me but i threw a fire bomb I FOUND ON THE GROUND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FOREST ON THE WAY TO FOLDA and then stepped in the middle of the field, then all the orcs retargeted to him and he had to run away before he could finish me off.

I was on the brink of death with 7 hp, 20 mana and the burn status, and a milisecond before the burn finished me my mana restored to 25 and i was able to heal, but i was still sitting in the middle of a fire field with very low hp and a bunch of orc warriors circling around me, just waiting for the fire to lower so they could feast on me, i had no hope left, i was resisting because it felt so exciting, but i was sure i was going to die. Then i had the idea to rush inside this room so i could wait here and replenish my life and mana before trying to get away from here.

When i ran to the door and they attacked me, my health went down very fast so i got inside and quickly closed the door, but then i was surrounded by ordinary orcs inside the room and each one was hitting for 1-3 damage and i had like only 15. I immediately moved the boxes to trap them and escaped at the last second with 4 hp.

Unbelievable, this may sound silly to you guys who are probably all high level but to me, this was exciting and fun as fuck, i have never felt this thrilled in modern Tibia.

I remember these feelings from way back in the 7.5 days. Harsh training, and then I'd lose it to some random PK. It was so hard to get anywhere, I didn't want to lose it; I'd try my hardest not to die. Getting hunted because defended yourself from some highlevel's bored PK friend and being forced to pay like 10k when that was all both me and my one friend had. Fun schemes and tricks to the game. Everything was hard, so everyone did everything together because there was no other way. I was a paranoid noob who was deathly afraid of the single Minotaur Guard south of Thais.

The closest I felt to this pure roleplaying experience in modern Tibia was by playing in the guild. Particularly, with Kentaro Sakata.

We explored a ton of the free account area. I went to places I never knew existed, some places apparently forgotten by Cipsoft itself; the chests we found in the cave gave us unstacked runes. The exploration experience was amazing; the nostalgic stories that were told about how things used to be brought back a feeling I hadn't felt since I played with my friends all the way back.

He taught me how to hunt dragons with my druid and, when I was ready, had me solo a Dragon Lord so I'd overcome my fear of the stronger creatures. One day we went to Kazordoon Dragons.

I think he was using his druid to block dragons for me and I was using one of my other characters, maybe my knight or paladin. Probably the latter.

We cleared the spawns and ascended the mountain until we reached the bridge. After some preparation, we crossed it, seemingly ready to face the two dragons that await. I think I bit off more than I could chew and we retreated, but I fell behind due to lag and burned in the firewaves of the dragons. I think I was without supplies and even if I had them I was in a state of panic and would probably not use them. I had already spent all my mana on healing the damage I had taken, yet my HP was red and the dragon was going to breathe fire again shortly. I knew. I knew I was going to die. As I reached the middle of the bridge, I had already begun to accept that fact.

But as I neared the other side of the mountain, Kentaro Sakata abruptly approached me and used a Ultimate Healing rune on my character, manually aimed at him, healing him to full HP. All this happened just in time to save me from a killing firewave the pursuing dragon fired off, saving my character's life. It took a moment for me to register that I had not died; he used yet another rune on me.

Due to the near death experience, I don't really remember what happened to the dragon that was pursuing us. Either it went back to its lair or Kentaro killed it by himself. I think the dragon we killed before crossing the bridge had respawned, and we had to deal with it.

I'm still in awe of this episode. I don't think I'll ever forget it.

Though the game of Tibia may change, it is always the people you're playing with that make it fucking awesome. This is what I learned that day.

First they sell you double vouchers, then they lax the rules on PKing and redo the combat mechanics & add new monsters with obtuse tactics and a steep learning curve with kewl drops to make death more frequent. Thus leading to you buying even more vouchers to get back to where you would've been without all the deaths in a positive feedback loop that makes them loadsamoney, and praise from the playerbase for free challenging content additions.

one day pwning some cycs at mt. Sternum north of thais, i was yellow barred or something only like lvl 22-23 paladin - some ass hole tries finishing me off mid cyc. i killed him and went and hid at this beholder cave you need a shovel to get into.

How do you play on OT servers now? I remember using the multi IP changer, but apparently it's not updated. There is thissoftware I found called TibiaLoader, but it doesn't fucking recognize my 10.77 client.

Safety > damage. I run up to 5 at a time. The respawn doesn't keep up that well anyways, so I wouldn't be gaining a lot from killing them a bit faster. Also, spellbook of vigilance makes me take +3% fire damage, and I don't have spellbook of dark mysteries, leaving me with the snake god's wristguard that has a measly 14 Def. Not worth it.
