Help me decide which version should I play?
I have both consoles and both versions, My N64 has a RGB mod hooked to a sony BVM monitor using a scart cable.

>> No.2385625

Tooie had absolutely abysmal framerate issues on the N64. The N64 version of Kazooie is acceptable, but for Tooie, you don't want to bother with the N64 version anymore.

The only "issue" is that because of the improved framerate, music in cutscenes often goes out of sync, but it's not really noticeable unless you've played the original. For instance, the intro, which is about 8 or so minutes long, is about a full minute faster than the N64 version, and the music cuts off at that point.

Do we need 3 threads for the same fucking game, fucking n64 shit babies.

Thanks, I've compared them both and actually the XBLA intro finished first even when I started it after the N64 one. Its like the N64 is going to burn running this game

I played both and never noticed it, so yeah, it is pretty minor honestly. I vastly prefer the XBLA ports still.

I've heard the Xbox versions of BK and BT have improved draw distances, so that puts them both above the N64 versions in my mind.

Play it on the N64.

Microsoft stripped out so much of both BK games in the xbox versions.

For example, in the first game, immediately when you start up the game, an N64 logo walks by the screen followed by a rareware logo.

The N64 logo is removed in the Xbox version, which doesn't actually effect gameplay at all, but it really kills some of the games charm.

All references to Nintendo have been removed or replaced with Last-minute Microsoft crap.

Really?
You're going to reccomend the N64 versions because they got rid of the fucking N64 logo that you only see at the beginning of the game and other completely trivial references?

Personally, I liked the controls were better in the XBLA port
Instead of Z + C-Right to bring out Kazooie, it was simply left trigger + right trigger

And come on, let's be honest
Who didn't walk around with Kazooie 75% of the time because she seemed faster

>> No.2386328

>>2386320
As better as the 360 versions are, that doesn't really make any difference. You only need to tap RT or C-left to bring Kazooie out. The rest is just you holding Z or LT, so your right hand is just as free in either version.

>> No.2386338

>>2386328
Yeah, that's true I suppose
360 controller just feels more comfortable in my hands now, the N64 controller kind of feels too small
Then again, that could be because the majority of time I spent playing with it I had 10 year old babby hands

I finished Kazooie on the N64 and started Tooie XBLA yesterday, I dont think they stripped the game that much, of course no n64 logo would appear but hey at least they left the n64 console in the game main menu screen and for what I've seen only some few sentences and references to Donkey Kong 64 was changed. The frame rate is really problematic, lots of slowdown although it is really nice to see the game pushing the N64 hardware.

>> No.2386728

>>2386684
Kazooie's framerate on N64 is fairly stable, but Tooie's bad framerate I think is just caused by an unfinished game engine. Sometimes the framerate is really good when there's a lot going on...and really bad when there's nothing going on. I reckon if Rare spent more time they could have fixed it on N64.

The Xbox version is much easier if you just want to play through the content. If you want to experience the real game play the N64 version.

why did they make the music so shitty in the second one? its like, the same tune but sounds so souless and paint-by-the-numbers

>> No.2387248

Ignore the autists. Tooie on XBLA looks better, plays better, and even has Stop n Swap.

>> No.2387289

>>2387130
How is it easier? I am genuinely curious.

I want to play Tooie again because I never beat it as a kid. I wonder if getting 360 version woud be better, but I dont want the difficulty to change.

Change anything you want over a game, but dont change things like difficulty and basics like that which make the game.

>> No.2387451

>>2387289
I Think he is reffering about the note reset on N64 Kazooie , but on Tooie I believe they save. It is really hard to replay the level over and over and over again until you get all the notes without dying, the XBLA version saves the notes progress even if you die.

>> No.2387959

>>2387289
Sorry for the long time between replies, but anyways.

In the N64 version when you die the game saves your note score on that level as your highest. Then that gets added to your total notes. This makes the game harder because dying is kind of a big deal.

On the Xbox version if you die you still have all your notes and you don't have to go recollect them to get to 100.

The reason this challenge is important is because these notes are used to open up more areas to explore in the hub-world.

>> No.2387968

>>2387451
>>2387959
Also I forgot to add that I'm not sure if this is the case on Tooie. I remember this being a big change between the first in the series, so it stuck with me.

The Xbox version of Kazooie is worse since they made note collecting permanent, but Tooie on Xbox is mostly unchanged except for minor technical improvements. If you have both the Xbox Tooie is a little better.
