What are your favorite multi-phase final bosses? I liked FF8's a lot, especially since each phase had progressively more climactic music.

man I was gonna make a thread about FF8 but specifically about the gameplay and the infamous junction system among other stuff... don't wanna start derailing the thread so early so I'll talk about this boss.

First time I finished this game was some days ago, I played VII many years ago, and only some hours of IX; I've played all "tactics" the retro and the others. As climax goes, yeah it puts you in the mood. She surprises you by taking away your junctioned magic, or important ones such as aura, and can basically leave you worthless and prolonging your moment of death if she happens to take your critical ones and you can't compensate with other stuff... like having leveled up stats such as strength and magic and have +60% damage, stuff like that... mixed feelings with the part that she fights the whole party, since the game pushes you all the way in creating 3 profiles to switch between your party members, so the first time you go into the fight, you most likely have 3 naked characters that just go to their deaths... it gives it a certain dramatic touch though lmao...

Ohh no not that thread, there was an FFVIII dedicated thread that 404'd a little while back but that was active for quite a long time. Many interesting discussions were had. Same here. I always find it odd when people say the systems in that game discouraged using magic, because for me it was the opposite. Between draw casting, collection points and spell pools you don't have junctioned, I used magic more than almost any other FF. Only in FFII where if you have a mage they're literally casting something every round did I use it more often.

I just played ffx and it's boss is shit compaired to 8. Even if ulticema was kind of a shit character, the 4 form's were really good. Each one felt like a large ramp up from the last. The music was great as well. I wish sephoroph had a third stage and was as well done. I'm playing 6 right now and I have pretty high hopes for kefka from what i've read on this board.

I have another one, the last boss in spyro 1 was awful, super easy. It was just like a chase level. I forget how 2 went, but all the bosses in 3 were pretty good. The ufo thing for the last one was pretty funny and they were all decently hard, at least when I first played them.

I always thought Omega from Mega Man Zero 3 was bad ass. His first form is big and his attacks are simple. Second form this guy gets even bigger like he takes up half the screen and due to the GBA's limitations they weren't able to program him to do any crazy attacks. His final form is Zero's (the main protagonists original body from the Mega Man X games) which is crazy he goes all over the place trying to cut you down.

MEGAMAN 7 (SEVEN) FINAL BOSS.

I still can't dodge those fucking orbs, but the first form is so good, like it just feels very right, you go "yeah, that IS a FUCKING FIRST FORM of Willy", that's how you do it, you know? The second one is good because:
1. Hard as fuck
2. Requires obscure weapon, staying classy
3. This weapon actually requires skill to use it
4. There is an alternative special weapon tactic with damaging via ice cubes and skipping his orbs via lightning sphere - show me other megaman boss whose pattern you can legitimately skip like that, together with responsive animation of him being electrocuted

In MEGAMAN 8 (EIGHT) they kinda stole the idea of this second form and fuck that game in general for having to rely on the dog to heal, instead of just consuming tanks. I'm doing King 3 in MEGAMAN & BASS right now as a matter of fact and that fucking Burnman fucks my arse like I'm some met whore.
