I'm just gonna use this as a tool to force myself to finally complete all the rpg's I either never completed or haven't played yet. Even if only one person is watching, it seems to motivate me.

I never liked BoF IV. Might be because I expected something more like BoF 3. I don't know. The characters didn't grip me(wtf was the point of that trashcan, the fox bitch was useless, there was literally no point for the cool samurai dog to be a character aside from looking cool, he's got like three lines in the game, the tiger was sort of cool I guess and the white haired guy you occassionally play as was okay), the story was dumb even for jrpg standards and the battle system was meh.

I liked they kept the masters stuff from III and I sort of feel like it might have been a better game then it was for me, but just didn't like it.

It's a very polished game; nice music, solid battle system and great pixel art in characters, animations and environment textures. But I literally can't remember any plot point or setpiece that stuck with me; there's an unengaging, mellow, low-scope feeling to the game that made playing it feel like a chore most of the time.

I liked BoFIII, though. The masters sytem and the fairy village stuff really went over my head back then, but the character-based plot worked pretty well -and I can remember several 'moments'-, and it was simple but fun to play most of the time.

Speaking of BoFIV, how is BoFIII?

I played BoF2 awhile back, and my biggest gripes were Ryu's dragon abilities costing all of his MP, and having to grind a bit every now and then.

So I played a bit of BoF3 and 4, and I think I'm gonna stick with 4.

It just seems overall more interesting. And the battles seem to be a lot faster, which is a big thing for me.

One of the most annoying things for me in the 6 hours I played of BoF3 was attacks missing so incredibly often. I once was fighting some nut thing, and it dodged like 10 attacks in a row. And not a single battle went by that Momo would miss at least one attack.

That combined with how slow the battles are is a bit too much for me.

Attacks dont often miss of BoFIII....but Momo has appalling accuracy, mainly because she would be too OP if it was high, she does good dmg. There's an accessory called the artemis cap that's found in the dump right before you find Peco that fixes this.
I would also like to point out that those Nut enemies have very high evasion anyway, it's their thing. Dont get annoyed at a game for having unique enemies with different battle patterns.

That can be rectified after fairy village segment is opened up. Just be sure to have a spare Swallow's Eye and have gotten the best Fairies available regarding the Copy job. If you are missing stat boost items, There is a gift shop that gives them, but you need to fight a specific number of battles to get the item you want.

7: Fish Head

31- 40: Life Shard

41- 50: Magic Shard

51- 60: Power Food

61- 70: Protein

71- 76: Swallow Eye

You can literally max out every stat that way. Reloading is a must as if you save outside the Fairy village, the item will not be set as a specific type (AKA if the item is destroyed because it was a failure, reload your save from outside the village.) You can literally get 6 items every 20 battles or so after you duplicate several of them as the base usage (Location of battles do not matter either, so fighting in extremely low level areas will assure item duplication is done quicker)

AKA: Get items from Gift shop as seed material and duplicate them.

It's a shame it has the flaws that it does. Poor translation, grindy at times, gameplay is pretty generic for the first half of the game. and the dragon abilities are pretty much pointless

The GBA port kinda fixes the grinding issue, but the translation is the same, and to my knowledge there is no retranslation patch.

Because of all that, I have a hard time putting it above 3 and 4, which I think are more polished as far as gameplay goes, and the translations are quite a bit better.

Manga ending was really nice though about that Fou doesn't get absorbed and Ryu and he go off adventuring so the former can have a not shitty life

After replaying Breath of Fire 3 I now realize the entire game's storyline was just a giant fucking 'moral grey area'.

I mean, I kinda had that hint when Garr kinda questions whether or not what he did was correct, cause that was kind of obvious, but replaying it now I noticed there are so many more moments where the grey area comes into play that I overlooked when I first played it's almost ridiculous.

-Baby Ryu (defending his life) mercilessly slaughtering workers (just doing their job) in the mines trying to escape
-Rei, Teepo, and Ryu robbing people to feed themselves and survive
-Same trio killing the Nue, a monster which was basically just doing the same thing the trio was doing for its young which actually died quite a long time ago
-Garr slaughtering the Brood, neither party was in the wrong
-The player forced to make the choice of killing the Mutant Plant, which has done nothing inherently wrong
-The player forced to make the choice of whether or not to keep Palet's Mother alive
-Ryu having to straight up kill a fucking camel so Nina won't die in the desert even though it's their only means of returning if they ever get ultimately lost in the desert.
-The King justifies Ryu being the reason Nina left the castle for so long and doesn't like him, Nina however has other plans other than being Princess even though it's technically her responsibility.

I haven't replayed BoF4 yet, but I'm sure the storyline is pretty much like that as well, I dunno.

Gonna continue, haven't played in a few days thanks to GTA5 coming out. But I wasn't lying when I said I will finish this! Currently the game story is kinda slow again though.

Last time I left off I was at a fishing spot near Lyp, after sailing the ocean. Gonna try fishing now.

I also managed to make my microphone sound a lot better by using my android phone instead of a crappy headset, so at least I don't sound like total shit now anymore.

the way this works if i recall right, fishing in BoF3 is more arcadey and fast while BoF4 took a more slower realistic approach.
But the prizes in 3 are better by a landslide.

at best you can do maybe one or two attacks and they're not even worth the AP you spent to just transform.

myrmidon's a fucking better dragon form to use, just spam Aura and congratulations, you just inflicted 5 times more damage than if you had chosen Kaiser.
