Just wondering

in your house or amongst your friends what the "player 1" controller?

I always saw the yellow controller to be better than the grey for some reaon

I usually went by whichever controller felt better, if there was a difference. when i got my N64, it originally game with pic related. Just seeing a picture is a nostalgia trip, reminds me of playing Ocarina of Time on Christmas morning. Once I got my gold controller with Majora's Mask, I tended to use that most often, though.

>> No.2323840

In my room, black controller is always Player 1. If we're using my roommate's N64, Player 1 is always the see through purple one because it has the better stick.

>> No.2323842

Alone, I usually play with whatever controller is most functional. If playing with friends, I let them use the best controller (or whatever controller they choose) and use whatever's left over.

when I had my N64, the Atomic Purple one was Player 1

eventually, the gray one became Player 1 because the other one's stick started to wear out

and right now, I use a charcoal PS1 controller when playing KOF with my friends, they use my DualShock 1 usually (they say it does inputs better, I got used to that charcoal controller and now I think it's better -- although I think they may have just wore the pad out on the DualShock)

I wore the fuck out of all my N64 Controllers playing Smash Bros and shit. Then, towards the end of high school, this kid I knew was just getting rid of a bunch of old video game stuff, and he dropped a green N64 controller in my lap, it was practically as good as new. It's still my go-to.

At first it was the clear purple one, but over the years the stick wore down a bit, so the grey one is now the go-to controller.

God what a terrible fucking controller.

I wish I still had it. Bought mine with OOT back in the day and became my favorite. Nowdays I only have a grey one and an atomic purple, but green remains my favorite. I sold it (along with my old N64) and regretted it later.

I still have the box though.

I am always player 1 and I use the original gray one that came with the system, the stick is a bit worn out but still OK, the guest gets my brothers old blue one, which has a pretty much like new stick. But I just like my old gray one, I am used to it.

Atomic fucking purple. No exceptions, it's the best color.

I don't have such a controller. Instead it's a race not to get the gray "player 4" controller

>> No.2324441

I have four Smoke Grey controllers, but the one with the normal memory card and the brand "I-1L" is player 1. It's a shame, I can't bear to change to another controller, yet the circle stick is starting to wear terribly.

I was thinking of trying to find another controller in good shape to do a transplant from, but then I don't know if I-1L would be the same.

Damn straight. I was always yellow too. But then later on I got a red one and that became my personal controller so I think it's just a case of anything being cooler than grey.

I was a weirdo as a kid so my console is, like, the oddest of the clear colors. I love the hell out of it because it is rare for me to find anybody else with it. I have two of this color but one's stick is way better, so that's the P1 and I keep a memory card in it so it is easier to differentiate.

I also have these third party controls that are just shitty carbon copies of the classic gray. They make people spin out every few seconds in Mario Kart and, like, an A button and a shoulder button get jammed.

Those third party controls are super recent products btw.

Atomic Purple has always been P1 for my N64 even though I own a near mint grey one. It's one of the two first N64 controllers I got, which I later refurbished with other controller parts. It's just a kick ass color I really miss and the fact that they released a charcoal N64 with that makes it seem even better.

I always used the shitty 3rd party controller when I had friends over.

Basically, so it just seems polite to give them the best, especially since they might not even have that game or console at home and a shitty controller obviously affects the experience.

And for N64, watermelon. We got a second first party controller eventually. Just a solid blue one. My brother always used that even in single player games.

Back on the NES, SNES, and Genesis, all the controllers I had were identical, and none of them were worn out or anything. I think the two six-button controllers I had on the Genesis were slightly different, but I can't remember how. Maybe one was a later revision or something.

On the PS1, I preferred using the standard non-analog controller most of the time, which worked out well, because my friends liked the feel of the dualshock controller. I never had any fancy colored controllers until the PS2, GC, and Xbox came out.

My friend never used this controller, so 15 years later when all the others were busted as fuck, this one was fresh as ever.

It was almost too hard to play Perfect Dark with, because it moved so fast.

Whichever player # I am, I usually use one like this. It's my favorite color, and luckily it's the one that doesn't have a worn joystick or a sticky button or two.
