I've been shopping around for famiclone stuff recently and I've come to the conclusion that China still must be making multicarts, because this "400-in-1 Coolboy" card is widely available and I bought it brand new on aliexpress.

The only difference from this one and older multicarts is that there actually IS 400 games on there, that more or less all are different.

A portion of the games are original (crappy) mini-games and others are weird romhacks.

Yes, they still produce multicarts.

The new ones are pretty popular among Famiclone collectors because, as you said, they actually include 400 games without repeating any, and they include stuff like Megaman, Castlevania and other "big" games that usually old multicarts didn't have.
These chinese multicarts are a good, cheaper alternative to famicom everdrives.

Mostly because the original famicom doesn't have the NES10 chip in it. That was only for the NA and EU Toaster style NES.

So because there isn't a lockout chip for carts, famicom games become very easy to manufacture.

The super famicom does have a lockout chip that requires a chip in the cart to play the game.

To my knowledge there was only one unofficial game released for the north american super nintendo and that was some bible game by wisdom tree which requires you to have a retail game inserted on top.

Here's a link with all the Brazilian Nes clones, there are many other from different consoles, but the NES clones thrived a lot because Nintendo neglected the Brazilian market thus creating a legal loophole that allowed for enterprises to manufacture their own version for profit.

4 bucks. Oh, and the console has games inside of it too.

It is complicated from what I understand. I have dumped a few carts, but that was just using scripts that someone else wrote. In all you need either a Kazzo or a CopyNES or similar, know how to write instructions for said device, and know how the cartridge in question functions.

Clones exist in many forms for the Atari 2600, NES/Famicom, Colecovision, Intellivision, Sega Sg-1000, Original Game Boy, SMS, and even the PC Engine and Mega Drive. However, for some reason there are next to no actual clones of the Super Famicom/SNES, GBC Playstation, N64, Sega Saturn, or Sega Dreamcast. At most there are like 2 clones of the Sega Saturn, Playstation, and Dreamcast.

I just got a retrobit NES since I'm sick of my famicom deleting my Zelda saves everytime I frustratingly wiggle the adapter and cartridge around.

So far so good. The colour palette favours yellow too much and the cymbal sounds are cheap, but it's still £30 cheaper than importing an NTSC-U NES.

You plug the AV adapter into the back of the Super 8, and then plug that into the Super Nintendo. It's a passthrough for the Super Nintendo portion, the Super 8 outputs the video for the Famicom/NES games.

The only /vr/ super famiclones are the Super Comboy, made for Republic of Korea market, as well as a similar one that has cartridge ports for both Famicom and SFC games. There is also the SNES CD station, which is quite rare.

The Comboy line was officially licensed by Nintendo. Korea banned Japanese companies from selling products within the country so Nintendo teamed up with Hyundai (unrelated to the car company) sell their wares; Sega had Samsung do the same.

The Gamerz Tek nes console isn't half bad for $24. The two controllers it came with though were kinda shit. I ended up simply buying Nintendo brand ones.

The Retron 5 is literally an Android box that dumps your cartridges as ROMs and then just plays them on an emulator. So the 'upscaling' is just the emulator outputting at whatever resolution you pick, just like on a PC.

Retron 5 isn't a clone machine, it's a discrete emulation machine that basically downloads the ROM from the cartridge and runs it in-software. It upscales the same way any other emulator does.

Is there any 'fake console' out there that can not only take old real cartridges, but also has usb slots or something for roms? I'd like something I could just load a flashdrive or sd card into.

Has anyone experienced the Subor SB-926? I think is pretty interesting how they turned a Famiclone into a computer.

I think Family BASIC had little to no success in Japan. Think about it, the Famicom came out in 1983, Family Basic in 1984 and the NES in 1985. They had plenty of time to evaluate how it worked out in Japan.
