I'm the only one who's not happy with the lifting of the 5th gen, because games become more complex and needlessly long as time goes on to where he'll need multiple days to clear it and the ADs will actually play through some of the game without Arino even trying out (See Ocarina of Time)

For a single episode, Paris Dakar Special. The perfect mix of unfair difficulties, ridiculous game design and sudden happenings makes it by far the most entertaining single episode.

After that, the series should be watched chronologically because it makes the most sense. The first actual challenge season has loads of great and/or famous games, you'll be able to make sense of all the linear mini segments and ADs and not get ruined the results of some episodes by sudden spoilers.

I'm torn with the Paris Dakar episode for a couple reasons. First the passcode error, I'm not sure if it really unexpectedly failed or they rused us with a scripted "mistake". The letter D and number 0 look about the same so it could be an easy one. Finally, around the end of the final stage, somebody was like: "Slow down!" or something like that in a straight path. Kacho answers him around the end of the episode with a: "Is this your first program or something?" and it sort of felt out of place. Even though I know his desk can't hide anyone so they can play for him, you can just paste Arino's face as he comments in a video.

I do love Game Center CX but this particular episode left me with some doubt about it's integrity

What? He's never gonna play some long ass RPG with unskippable cutscenes. If anything, he'll do Dragon Quest 1 some day, since he likes DQ and that one could potentially be finished in a day.

Yeah, I think this is the main issue with people looking less than ready for prime time. It was the same thing back in the mid 2000s when studios in the US started switching to HD, all the broadcasters had to start using HD makeup (yes, that's a thing) so newscasters didn't look "off". We get better game footage on recent GCCX episodes, but I think everyone looks worse, to varying degrees.

Doesn't work like that here unless they made extremely recent changes. You could ban someone and still leave their post up. Hence why you sometimes see USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST. However 99% of the time, a mod will only delete the post that caused the user to get banned and nothing else.

Finally a janitor only has the power to request someone be banned and a moderator looks at their request.

Don't lie, it's not nice.

So that mean,s someone reported me, janitor passed it to a moderator, and the mod clicked ban & deleted all posts (or whatever it's called).

And I haven't seen a real, non-joke "user was banned for this post" in ages though I won't comment any further on this as it's beyond this off-topic tangent.

They usually don't do that. It almost always causes a thread to fall into chaos.
>However 99% of the time, a mod will only delete the post that caused the user to get banned and nothing else.
That's right, but the other 1% does happen sometimes.
>Finally a janitor only has the power to request someone be banned and a moderator looks at their request.
Nowhere in my post or in the one I was replying to did we say that a janitor could ban.

There isn't really any set order, generally it depends on the workload and how interesting they think an episode is. If the people are already busy with other real life stuff it's unlikely that they'd spend time working on an overlay-heavy game or one that's tricky to translate well since it'd take so long. Captain Tsubasa for example is unlikely to be showing up anytime soon since they've said that they're going to be busy for a while.

That said, Yuji Horii Interview, Alex Kidd and Gradius are the most likely candidates for the next episodes since it'd wrap up everything from season 1 to 15.

Yeah, he's just not good at controlling the character when his movement isn't restricted like it is in for example Ninja Gaiden or G'nG which are otherwise more difficult games. You can eventually memorize jump timings and distances a lot more effectively in games like those.

Nah, his actual appeal is in that he's harsh but honest. He's not just a dick for no reason, he does genuinely want people to succeed. Of course the shitty US shows just want him to be angry all the time for maximum drama.

But yeah, Japanese is a language in which you're going to sound offensive if you don't pick exactly the correct level of politeness (of which there are several) when talking to someone you don't know. His style would probably give people heart attacks.

Hard to say, this is the only footage of him in the show. All we really know is that he and Kan had some kind of a disagreement and after that he was pretty much erased from the show's history which is why Toujima is known as the first AD.

I recall the Japanese fanbase calling him the "Phantom AD".

Also how old is this interview since from how it looks of what they talk about, it was around season 8 or 9 and that would mean the incident was fresh in their memories.

I could see Kan being more pissed at his failed continue for Bikkuman world where they had to push on to a second day of shooting, but Arino clearing that game and how Tsuruoka showing actual joy really made that episode though

I included the interview year in the filename, it's 2008.

And yeah, it's in Bonk's Adventure although I don't think they specifically mention Tsuruoka as the culprit in it. It was the live challenge, and aside from apparently sleeping during it, he guided Arino to the wrong chest on floor 100 which almost warped him back to 19 just when they were about to reach the end of both the game and the live broadcast.

Mostly. Yeah, I was thinking that, most of them are spot on, but I was thinking that Takashi's challenge, Link to the Past, Bonanza Bros, Hanamaru, the genji and heiki clans and parappa, had better songs to represent them than what was selected. And for fairness, one song per game so you get the quintessential track. You're right, it's about what song was heard the most or used during a big moment that matters over what is preferred.

But that's just my opinion.

I'd like to think they built a positive relationship off of what happened with Bikkuriman World since Tsuruoka royally fucked up there too, but since Arino had a tendency to also fail to properly continue, he sympathized, and was also burned out, so was happy he was able to skip out. Plus I wouldn't be shocked if they did research ahead of time to see how much magic was needed to kill the final boss so the ended went like that when they did the second day. Granted Tsuruoka's joy was real.

Also there was the 53 Stations song where Tsuruoka sang at the pitch of the game making him sound like he hadn't hit puberty which Arino loved to the point he considered it his song when and thought about Tsuruoka when he had to sing it for the 'sing whatever the hell you want' segment.

I'm kinda hoping it's water under the bridge since Tsuruoka did come back for Budokan, so their couldn't have been bad blood between him and the staff over the years.
