How many of you guys like to go to Barcades? I recently started going to a couple here in San Diego and so far they're bretty gud. Not a lot of variety in the arcade games most of them have the same MK, Street Fighter and Area 51 games but it's still fun to play and drink at.

No cover charge and the foods really good, but D&B is overpriced, at least for my area. Its not a true arcade though, in that its a ticket redemption style place. Like a chuck-e-cheese with beer and food that isn't complete shit. And although the food is overpriced, you don't have to order anything to get in.

There's only one in Omaha; it's a great retro game atmosphere for sure but it was too small and too crowded. Then they expanded to a larger building next door and now it's quite spacious and too crowded.

Won a $50 tab once... but then they told me I had to spend all $50 that night, on a Wednesday, or I'd lose it. I didn't plan on getting wasted that night, but I did. I just wanted to play again, didn't have any quarters, and they didn't have a change machine. It was either break another bill or just ask for my money back. I went to one in Manhattan actually called Barcade, I know they have at least one other location but didn't think it was a chain...

Anyway, it was actually pretty great. Excellent selection, mix of really old stuff, typical popular cabs, and novelties. The food and beer was excellent. A little hipstery but didn't get TOO crowded and people were nice at the machines. 10/10 would go back and waste 20 dollars worth of quarters at.

There's a pretty good place in Hanover PA called Timeline Arcade. It''s not quite a barcade but is BYOB on Fridays and Saturdays after 10pm.

Yeah, they're are two Barcades in Manhattan and then the original one in Brooklyn. I think they started branching out to other states as well. One of the Manhattan locations actually had a Stryder 2 machine, which was pretty fucking sweet.

Although, as much as I like the place the owners kinda seem like dicks. They trademarked the name "Barcade" so they started threatening legal action to anyone who calls something a "Barcade." I had a buddy in Arkansas that held a local fighting game tournament at a bar call "Barcade Edition" and they got a cease-and-decist from them.

>> No.2309348

I don't understand why anyone would think it would be a good idea to drink and play video games. All you are doing is impairing your own skills, making you play even shittier. Good way for the owners to make money I guess, but not smart from the players perspective.

Aside from their surprisingly decent collection of games, Brewcade in SF is shit. Boring normies brought in from the tech industry flock in to pay $7 for the smallest glass of beer you've ever seen and crowd around classic machines, but just to look at them, because the only game they'll actually fucking play is Big Buck Hunter (why is that even there?
