I definitely agree with you guys and it sucks that this is a thing, but I wonder how much it could be possibly worth to a reseller, depending on the game.

Like earthbound, we all know is not worth $500 or w/e the jerks on ebay sell it for. So selling it at a reasonable price of say, $50, is asking to cuck not only yourself but the community at large.

But say a game that goes for above what it should go at, but not a ludicrous amount. Like FFIII SNES. I've been watching the sells on eBay and it goes between $50-60, sometimes as high as $75. Selling it at a reasonable price of $30 or $40 bucks means if a reseller decides to try and cuck you, they'd only be making at best $25 bucks. And when you factor in the time it would take them to buy it off you, repackage it, put up a new post, resell it, ship it, etc, they wouldn't even be making any money. The time it would take them to resell it is worth more than the money they would gain from a resell.

Just a thought I had. It's a fucked system we're in for sure, but I think we all have the chance to do some good and make the community a little better.

It depends on the work but it's fairly easy.

I would recommend that you keep the following saying in mind in order to ascertain the difficulty of any given project:

super easy. check out lots of youtube guides - there are tons of them that focus on retro vidya repair in general.

After fucking around with it a little it becomes a simple task

maybe start by just soldering wires together. then try solder a wire to a PCB. then try a resistor or something. You'll see it's super simple

All you need is a soldering iron and solder for electronics for starters. You'll probably want to get a solder remover vacuum or braid, and some flux.

have fun

Funco/EB/GameStop used to have so many games that are "rare" now for pretty cheap. Games that would be a pain in the ass to get at a reasonable price now, I'm so glad I got back then. 1997-2001 was a great time for 3rd/4th gen buying, 2001-2005 was a great time for 5th gen. From maybe 2007 to present, 6th gen games have gotten pretty cheap, unfortunately you still see places get wiped out of the good deals very quickly.

Here's some of what I picked up over the years:

Klonoa:DtP (mint) $15 used at GameStop
Castlevania:SotN (near-mint, black label)$10 used at EBGames
Sunset Riders (SNES, new) for $8 at KB Toys
Strider 2 (new) $10 at Zellers
PSone with LCD screen (new) $50 at FYE

Others I got at what were definitely unreasonable prices, but today would be considered low:

Secret of Mana (cart only) $30 at FuncoLand
EarthBound (cart only) $90 on Amazon.com

Yep, I totally agree, my experience buying used games was the same. Around 2004 I used to get tons of used PS1 games for cheap. Back then nobody gave a shit about Persona or Suikoden. SNES rpgs were around 20 to 40 bucks, nothing crazy like now.

I stopped buying used games a few years ago. Prices were getting silly and I figured I had enough anyways. Still struggling with if I should sell stuff or not, I'm 30 and don't really play them anymore.

Yeah, and for this reason I will forever hate myself for "waiting for the price to drop" on a lot of games...if only I could have seen what the future brought.

Also that reminds me about Suikoden, I remember getting the original new at Ames for $15. Literally the only thing I ever bought there, even though they had tons of new 4th gen games discounted there, but I never got any because I sold my older systems in '98 like an idiot and thought I was through with them.

KB Toys (especially their outlet stores) and Ames had some of the best deals before they went out of business, now that I think of it. So, so many things I stupidly passed over.

Also got Princess tomato in 2008 for 38 mexican pesos and Journey to Sillius for $3 that same year on a swap meet at calexico, along with TMTN II and ZELDA for the same price.

and finally, i got Ducktales 2 from a guy living in a house who found me at a flea market in december 2007 if i remember right and we went to his house, and i was scared cause i tought he was gonna mug me, but no, he had the games, and sold it to me along other games (some of which i dont own anymore) for 15 MEXICAN PESOS!

The controllers are total ass. The console is expensive. The console needs a 100 dollar mod to put out fucking RGB. Disk system games. Enhanced audio. Mono only output without a mod. Famicom pin differences.

Meanwhile, emulators are cycle perfect. You can hook up your old CRT with S-video or something in 2 seconds.

Dear lord NO, FUCK NO!, the stuff i buy i definitively play and enjoy, plus i only buy the games that are worth in my eyes (i actually don't care about titles like Castlevania I, Kid Icarus, Metroid, Final Fantasy etc).

Dude, no offense but you just remind me how HORRIBLY AWFUL the facebook groups have became, SPECIALLY here on mexico and those states you mentioned, while i have buyed from some of them, sometimes, when something worth pops out, most of them are no worth the pain and time, because most of these fuckers are in there for the money and some of them are for legitimately abuse people off when

A - they always ask 200 mexican pesos ($16) for a good game REGARDLESS of the state of said game

B - Most of the ones selling Good titles NEVER PUT THE DAMN PRICE ON THE POST and use the Inbox trick (the infomercial trick as we call it) to bait people into thinking it is cheap

C - They often tease people by posting pics of games they bought for dirt cheap, and have No plan to sell them (It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that those aren't "recent purchases" groups but SELL GROUPS!)

D - This is an extension of C, when they do have the intention of selling the game, they use B to bait people and they LOVE to dodge any question of how much they pay'd for it and where to get it because of fucking course, they love to pretend to be "big spenders" (when they pretend that they payed the prices that they ask for the game when it's pretty fucking obvious that they got it for almost nothing) and to fool people into thinking that this is how the system should work now.

Yes i have found SOME stuff at a fair price, but you have to dig trough the shit, and quiet frankly, is not really that worthy.

Please don't compare me with those leeches.

Well, i do frequent 2 flea markets in my city but to be fair i only tend to find semi decent stuff (and on occasion, gems) on one, that is indoors, but there are times in which i find nothing worth.

i think they were only 3 times i actually boght from those facebook groups, and last time was when i bought Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers for 100 mexican pesos ($8), not too bad considering that new copie i own is in pristine shape (my old one i payed really dirt cheap, like 15 pesos with the guy i bought ducktales 2, BUT KEEP IN MIND, that was YEARS ago in 2008, and that copy was in beat up condition, and i actually trade it in for Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle), and i actually got Little Nemo teh Dream Master for $3 on those groups in mint shape (already own the game but i trade it for Street FIghter 2010, big regret).

Those where the only times i got lucky with the facebook groups, but like i said, those were the diamonds in the rough.

Most of my stuff i got it from flea markets way back in late 2007. when i started buying NES games because i wanted to enjoy the system again and move out from emulation.

the swap markets i frequent are, Tianguis Nuevo Mexicali, Tianguis el Caballito (used to hang around after in between breaks of collage around 2008 - 2010, there i got some good games back then) and the one i frequent the most but i only occasionally got lucky is the "Sobreruedas" of sundays near where i live.

sometimes if i can i go to one that is at the edge of the city which is failry small, and almost has no games, but there is when i found my copies of Shatterhand, The magic of scheherazade and a mint copy of Astyanax.

Fun fact, some games i already own on terrible shape and was able to re-bought for good copies at good to reasonable prices and used the spare copies to trade in sometimes.

got this CIB from a rental store
fun game, multiplayer was a blast, but I can see why the game is expensive due to the fact it was the last game put out on the system or close to it.

who still was buying N64 games in 2001, ya know? its the same deal with other systems, NES in 94, SNES in 98, N64 in 2001, GC at least had its last game coincide with a brand new system launch title

SNES games are seeming to dry up in my area too, i haven't seen any in a dogs age. last lot i got was beyond amazing, made up for not really getting any SNES games for almost the entire flea market season.

I have seen far more NES and N64 stuff and its all either junk or stuff i already have. i buy it anyway though to save it from being bought up by the jewseller and horderfags, i then sell then at the patented "Bro Price", which is 50% Ebay retail value. I also do a bit of background check to make sure its not going to a jewseller or their ilk.

This triggered me. It reminds me of the time I went to one of the larger flea markets in the area. I was happy to see one of the sellers with a permanent stall specializing in old games, and started browsing his inventory. What I saw was almost exactly what was pictured in your post. I even offered to purchase a broken SNES controller he had thrown into an electronics waste bin; the wire was cut off, and I figured I could salvage some of the internals. He wanted $10, so I immediately declined and departed. I later stopped by a bunch of Mexican guys selling a bunch of random cables and broken appliances, got Sony and Nintendo branded A/V cables for $1 each.

Nintendo has always been retard expensive. The Wii was the first real time they sold enough units to mask the price fixing. As soon as the resellers buy up all the popular cheap Wii titles, they'll be 500 bucks each.

>> No.2306456

>>2306387
Well unlike the N64, the Gamecube actually has a lot of good titles, just less then the PS2.

Combine with the fact that a lot of it is probably collectors and resellers trying to stay a step ahead of the curve since they've seen whats happened with NES-N64/PS1/Saturn prices. It makes "sense" to buy stuff thats newer since its quite readily available and people are often trying to sell to upgrade to the next hot thing. Look at the shit like the Amibo. Its partially a Nintendo Fanatacism thing I think, but PS2 has been steadily increasing in price as well, although its been kind of kept in check with the mass amounts of HD-collections and releases.

tldr; The Video Game market is fucked and you're facing an uphill battle from now on.
