It does. Because even though I claim to buy games to play them I'm actually a wannabe collector late to the game on the latest hipster fad and not getting a CIB copy of earthbound for $10 really triggers me.

When I was younger I wrote the names of my SNES games on the top of their respective cartridge, because the cartridges in PAL land don't have their name on it, so it can be quite frustrating pulling every game out of the cupboard just to see the games front to find a certain game. US cartridges don't have that problem obviously.
But I'm considering removing the names again for aesthetics sake

What with how fucking common stories about kids stealing games back in the game are, I'd say the ones who wrote their name on their cartridges in permanent markers were the smart ones.

The flat ones were older cartridges. The first model of the SNES had an eject button, and that slot kept the carts (needlessly) locked into place. But since most kids are mongoloids that just rip the game out of the system without pressing eject, they changed the shape of the carts to keep people from fucking their own shit up.

I think it is developed by the same people who make Harvest Moon, at the very least it is also published by Natsume and they have similar art styles in their designs.

I did used to get really pissed over cartridge-marking, but now that I think of it, it's not a huge deal as long as it's not done in a manner that completely fucks up the look of the cartridge (like as long as it's not on the label, as some others have said). On the contrary: I actually like owning things that are personalized in some way, whether that personalization is my own or someone else's. This is why I really like getting things from thrift stores. There's something heart-warming about owning something and being able to see into its past by observing the things that make it unique, albeit "ugly". It makes me feel oddly connected to its previous owner.
