What's the point of having a complete collection?

It is fun. Owning a complete NTSC library was an accomplishment for me, personally.

>> No.2252860

My game collection doesn't even fill a single shelf, I guess I didn't have that many games I really felt the need to buy at this point.

There really isn't a point. For all the good titles on a console, there are two bad ones, and I personally find it to be a complete waste of time and money to track down those shit discs, and it makes it all the more worthless knowing that they will not be played, but instead they will sit on someone's shelf to collect dust and rot for all eternity. They might even have it in their will for their family to hold onto the collection, and never sell it, or they'll want to be buried with it.

For what console?

I want to open a retro gaming lounge with the ultimate goal of having complete collections available for play.

>> No.2252952

I play all my old games on emulators or on my PS3, but since I've been frequenting this board it's given me the itch to collect. If I had the room and money I'd totally do it.

Complete collection sounds like a cool idea at first, except when you realize how many sports or shovelware games there might be in a particular console's library. Imagine collecting all the games for the Wii. I'd just collect the games I'd actually play. Don't have the space for shit games.

this is why i laugh when people complain about nintendo losing third party support, did you really enjoy all that shovelware on wii?

dude. like a hookah bar but every group gets to sit at their own little tv and console of choice. they get whatever games they want, and you jjust sell them beer and wine and soft drinks.

that might actually survive in the right market (west coast college town)

You'd need the tv and consoles to be at little stations where people had couches and tables. You'd also want to have an arcade section, pool, and pinball machines.

YES, this is my new dream. Thanks /vr/

What's the point of NOT having a complete collection?
What else are you going to do with those games?
Play them?

I like to think that when you buy purely for collecting, and you have no intention of ever playing the games you buy, then you aren't really buying anything are you?

You're practically just handing some dude money and getting nothing in return, because you are getting practically nothing out of owning them.

You'll set them on a shelf, and you'll go about your daily life. Going to work, hanging out with friends, watching TV, and cooking dinner. Sure, every once in a while you'll snap a pic of it, and the first few times, your friends will think it's neat, but they will stop caring, the internet never cared in the first place, and you'll just keep on moving on with your life, while those game sit there and collect dust, like a decorative piece of furniture, or a painting on the wall, although, not as nice to look at.

They have something similar to this in Dominican Republic. It's really neat, except it tends to be overrun by 10 year old hardcore gamers who could whoop you on pretty much any game.
