If you find numbers fun though, it's VIII without a doubt.

7 if you like minigames and boobs.
8 if you like breaking the game in half with the insanely fun card game.
9 if you just like to chill and explore while playing.

I honestly preferred the card game from 9.

Anyway 7 had the best mini games and had a good battle system with almost unlimited customization so I'm gonna go with it.

6 had the best story and characters though.

never played 8, and i can't really pick between 7 and 9. I loved both, but i only replayed 7 and since it's the pleb choice i dunno if i'd pick it, or 9 to sound cool. I surely wouldn't pick 6 or 4 or any of the non 3d ones despite liking them all

In general, I'd probably say VI or VII. I love a lot about IX but it's really goddamn slow. VIII I guess could be most fun if you like cards or totally breaking the game.

For me, 8. 9 was brilliant, though.

I couldn't stand the card game in IX. Thankfully there was the Chocobo digging game, which along with it's brilliant backing track, was crazy addictive, and the treasure hunting afterwards was satisfying and rewarding too.

Just my opinion, having only played the first seven.

But I keep coming back to the first.

7 is middle of the road, fine game, but has aged poorly.

8 is really fun if you love breaking games. Holy shit is the junction system busted.

9 if you like classic 4 character teams with job-based characters.

Play the GBA version of 6.

Mint condition.

ff8 had mst fun system and options for powering up your party, that didn't involve grinding for exp.

card game was damn interesting AND useful for main game (unlike ff9), and junction system with scaling enemy levels made powerlevelling unnecessary

plot was a clusterfuck, though.

Haven't played viii or ix yet but I loved vii and vi. Hard to compare because they are so different though. VI is like the last of the old style FF and VII is the first new type FF. I love both.

In my last playthrough I made it to disc 4 with all characters under level 20

I just finished up Zozo, and I was supposed to head to Jidoor to speak with the impresario. I'm not sure if it's him, but I have spoken to the man in the mansion, who speaks of Maria, and compares her to Celes. But nothing else is spoken of, and so I head to the Operah House, and they continue to tell me it's still closed?
