I bought a S-video cable for my PS1 and it works great. It really opened my eyes to just how shit composite is even for SD quality, made me go for a S-video mod on my Genesis.

But one thing that sucks is when I turn my PS1 on, the first 2 seconds of the godlike boot up is just a black screen with no sound before the Sony logo and music pop in. I never get the full start up. Anyone else have this issue? It's a PSone if that matters any.

Motherfucking this. Because the Dreamcast came and went, for some reason the time I spent playing those games is more vivid in my memory than any other system I own. I hear that sound and my brain automatically gets ready for Sonic Adventure or Crazy Taxi or Skies of Arcadia.

Yeah the Dreamcast sound is Soylent Green suicide clinic levels of soothing. If it went on too long you'd die of peace and contentment. I often listen to ambient music (I'm gay) and none of it can lay a finger on that Dreamcast sound.

Come to think of it, the heartbeat sound at the end is really fucking weird

Despite this board being retro ps3 had the worst. Its just orchestral strings tuning in the key of A. Couldn't if been any less of a thought
