Welcome to Pia Carrot on the PC-FX should be the only translated, licensed eroge for consoles.
The other options are unlicensed stuff like Bubble Bath Babes and ancient American games like Custer's Revenge.

Not like there are many more untranslated eroge on consoles. Can Can Bunny Extra DX on the PC-FX and stuff like Virtual Cameraman on the Laseractive and those strip games on the Saturn.

>>2214085

No console from the 6th generation onwards had any eroge made for it because of content control from the console makers on who gets devkits and the enormous expense of getting them. Maybe it extends from the 5th generation onwards but I'm not quite sure.

But in any case, you could probably buy a mansion with the money that you have to shell out for the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U devkits. At least now they made it somewhat easier with supporting Unity and making certain APIs available to the general public so indie games can be published but everything revolves around stupid Unity, for heaven sake.

>But in any case, you could probably buy a mansion with the money that you have to shell out for the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U devkits.

Really? What if you're commissioned a game by Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo itself? And I thought you could loan it or something?

I don't think money was a factor since they got plenty of censored eroge.
Sony had the Net Yaroze as an affordable dev kit and NEC had the PC-FX GA card.

>> No.2214225

>>2214206

I dunno anything about loaning although you have to go through the console maker's approval. Same thing when you are commissioned a game. But for third party studios, they have to buy the devkits to develop on them and if you can get a successful AAA game out nowadays, it's for first and foremost to pay off the costs of the devkit.

But the tight control on devkits is why games have a ESRB ceiling and creative restrictions due to the ungodly amounts of legalese around. Yes, you can have censored eroge but almost no one published them except for the 360 last generation which probably was Microsoft trying to garner more Japanese support. That failed in the end as those remakes dried up and Microsoft kinda pulled out of that market, which means probably the devkits used to produce those remakes were loaned from Microsoft.

>>2214214

Which is why I said from the 6th generation onwards. The cost of a devkit was probably not that much for the PS2 since lots of stuff came out for it that were all ages. But the PS3 had a severe lack of that.which is probably due to that. Dunno if Sony also said no to most of them while they wanted to keep that platform with more "quality" games and not rehashes of PC game eroges. There was Umineko for the PS3 which is all I can think of.

It's not like "untraslated eroge on consoles" will be the only new thing available to you once you learn Japanese to an acceptable level.

There's also the "untranslated fucktons of other things".

One reason why the PS3 didn't get as much as the PS2 is simply that the PS3 wasn't as successful. Sony sold 20 million PS2 in Japan but only 6 million PS3 and of course you don't need a powerful platform for simple 2D adventures games either.

>> No.2214282

>>2214273
They also didn't get the uncensored original version. The plot is identical aside from name changes, just the dialogs were rewritten. Some of it is also inconsistent like they're talking of Strawberry Fields at one point but renamed it to Arcadia at another.
The changes to gameplay a minor things like being able to save everywhere.

Misquote of >>2214225 ?

And yeah, that guy is clueless. Tons of VNs get non-H ports to consoles nowadays. Mainly Vita.

>> No.2214312

>>2214286

I was thinking of eroge but accidently extended the definition to non-H VNs. My bad.

If you are looking for strictly eroge content, then yeah, I couldn't really think of much but I should've used Cross Channel since it was eroge. As you stated, you don't really need the power for it. I'm just stating that for the home consoles alone, there have been vastly less ports of those games than in the PS2 generation.

>>2214286

I'm not clueless but I did not address VNs in the strictest sense of it having erotic content or not and that was my mistake. But I dunno, looking at VNDB, with https://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=tag_inc-23.tag_exc-235.tagspoil-0.plat-psv, I only see that there are about 30 titles or so. I dunno if that's a sizable amount of ports given how long the Vita has been out but I wouldn't really call that amount of H-content sanatized Vita releases a lot.

Really, if there's any DK game that should be translated, it would be the 4th one.

I do wish that game had a "perfect" version with content from all the ports it had but sad to say...

I don't know if you really need the dating mode from the PS1 and some of the extra characters and maps from the SFC and PS1 depend on plot changes.
I think the Windows remake is fine if you can live with ugly 3D graphics, stupid town design, voiceless protagonists and a completely different battle system.

It had all of the adult content axed out and uses smaller art for it's cutscenes.

On the other hand, the towns and maps look absolutely gorgeous, plus the gameplay is more fluid than in the original.

>> No.2216058

>>2215996
>>2215984
They cut out non-adult content as well because they had to reduce the game from 12 to 3 MB.
The problem I had was that everything in the battle was very small so it's hard to tell the difference between various units and I didn't find a way to show the hexes on the map. You still have the problem of ranged units being far more useful.
It does have to option to cancel orders which is something the original severely lacked. The idea to destroy bridges was also interesting and missing from the other versions and it's the only console port that seems to support a mouse.

There are a few changes but the overall plot should stay the same. I only played the first half though.
