>> No.2207913

Just a nice white backlight, and gave of to him with links awakening inside.

Was thinking of biverting it, but have no spare hex inverter chips and, being a birthday, kinda had a deadline to work to

I have the retro NES version of the Gameboy SP. It's an earlier model so it has a frontlit screen. I want to replace it with a backlit screen. Is there anywhere I can order these from cheap, or would my best bet be just buying a backlit Gameboy SP and swapping the screens?

>> No.2210680

>>2210384
Impossible. Early and late model SPs use entirely different Nintendium reactors, the parts are incompatible.

>> No.2211038

Self taught. Search the internet, read the Ben heck forums, and just find a knackered old console for cheap, and start experimenting!

2211075

I would like to get into it.
But then again, I'd feel bad ruining an original game system.
They would probably need to be beyond repair (the shell, I mean) or a replacement one, for me to go through that.

My first goal would be to make a GB/GBC that looked like pic related.

>> No.2211081

>>2211070

Yeah, quite an odd looking hand position. With the size of the carts though, it'd be hard to fix without making it bigger. Still, very nicely done. Compared to some "portable" n64s I've seen, its the best looking.

I'm just thinking. There are Shops which sell "custom" colored third party cases, right? That ones would probably give a good unit for training and testing?

>> No.2211086

>>2211083

Yeah. Most of the customs I've made have started off as a 3rd party replacement shell. The downside is, I now have a large collection of original GB shells, in various states of dirty/chipped/cracked

>> No.2211096

Man that's amazing, how much do customs usually cost?

>> No.2211160

>>2211096

Depends greatly on how custom they are - what's changed on it, time it took, cost of bits. If I had sold the Zelda GB in the OP, I'd probably be asking £80-£90 for it. This SNES >>2211083 would probably cost a lot more, for custom art of that quality

>"Designed and built by"

He didn't design or build fucking anything, that's an existing toy with a hollow space in the back where he fit the PCB.

Man, I could swear that comic had alternate text. I seem to remember the alien guy saying something like "Life is too good for puny mortal races" or something.

>> No.2211242

>>2211219

There's more work to fitting a PCB inside an existing toy. Granted, "designed" may be a little strong, but there's a lot more to building something like that than you realize.
