The problem I have with these lists is which release date to you assign to a year? Do you take the Japanese date or the English one? Is Suikoden 2 1998 or 1999? Is Shenmue 1999 or 2000?

Obviously most people here will only have played the games upon their English release, and naturally associate that year with said title.

1998 was a damn good and possibly the best year for video games no matter how you look at it and sadly is within what is concidered "retro" on this board (I still don't fully accept 5th gen as "retro" myself).

The original Tomb Raider trilogy did more to define the modern 3D adventure game than anything else and they remain extremely playable and enjoyable to this day.

If you think any of them are bad, you are almost certainly a casual with no willingness to learn digital 3D controls. Saying they're "objectively bad" basically makes you a piece of shit.

Yes soo much better :). Honestly I was just suprised I met a person who thought the game was horrible. I mean, to each their own and I am not one to usually judge someones likes/dislikes it just took me a bit by surpise.
