Guest throughput, pricing power, capacity, etc are all issues. You can't drop the same thing fucking everywhere, you need something high excitement for a high price but that doesnt exclude half your guests. It needs to put guests through quickly. Don't worry about queue length so much unless you do constant advertisements/promotions and don't have enough rides to keep guests busy.

It leads to this, where one or two popular things get everyone, and the rest are barren. If the line is full, then guests will continue to another ride, if the line is long as shit but has an opening, then they'll sit there and wait. Consider the time they sit in line as time they aren't forking over cash to do other things.

For the archipelago maps, I try to take it slow until I can build up the capital for two 9E/4-7I/3-5N rides that I cycle promotion and reconstruction so they stay in the $15 range. Focus on keeping all your rides profitable, cull the old ones people don't ride and keep things organized so guests can follow a natural grid through your park. It looks like you either expanded too early or fast to the two other islands while the pirate ship, observation tower, and the spinners have nobody riding them on the original island.

I recently got back into this game and started messing around on Extreme Heights. The last time I played RCT was back in high school over 10 years ago, and the memories come flooding back.

I never used scenery much when I played before, so I decided to give it a shot. It's a mind-numbing process.

I love the way this looks. It's very dense and combines several object themes very well. In particular I like the barrels used as support columns.

Also, thanks! 4D coasters are particularly special to me. Back in high school when RCT2 first came out, there was an official contest to design a 4D coaster. I ended up winning the top prize for my age group: a free trip to a park of my choice (I chose Cedar Point because Top Thrill Dragster had just opened), a decent PC, and most importantly of all, an RCT pinball machine.

When mousing over a path/track/object, holding down Ctrl will allow you to place pieces at the same elevation. You can hold down Shift while still holding Ctrl to adjust from that elevation as well.

Sadly, I don't have the track file. All of the winning entries used to be on the RCT2 website, but it no longer exists.

A flyer for the contest came with every retail copy, so I thought I didn't have a chance in hell of winning. Needless to say, I freaked the fuck out when I got the letter saying that I won.

The cobra roll exits under the uppermost station's exit/entrance.
Instead of the heartline roll connecting to the leftmost station's exit (it's on the wrong z-plane), it exits into a hill to the right, looping back around to meet said station at the proper entrance.
Everything else shouldn't be ambiguous.

So just barely. Doesnt leave much room for competition, and you are forced to go short and rough, including hard ass brakes. I am a little surprised that isnt more expensive, though. That cable lift alone is 600-700.

Yeah, it's not really good competition material, around 10k could be possible I guess. Just wanted to see if you could get decent stats from a really cheap Giga, I mean 6.34 E for 6k is not that bad, even compared to a decent Junior Coaster. I did some minor testing with the cable lift vs ordinary chain and considering the extra speed it give I'd say it's worth it.

I've entered the bizzaro zone, can someone explain the thing I build to me?

The thing fail to cross the loop the first time and go back up to the station, then it fails to enter all the way into the station and instead manage to complete the loop. After that, without any chain lift, it magically go to the top of the vertical track and go back to the station. My mind is full of fuck.

Wanted to see it for myself. What's strange is that during the second attempt on the loop (i.e. the one it succeeds) the train slows down as it enters the loop, almost stopping once the front quarter is over the top. You'd expect it to then roll back, but instead it suddenly starts accelerating through the loop. I think it's caused by the train believing itself to be entering the station since instead of the speed being shown on the second run, it instead says arriving at station and the train is therefore being powered.

>train leaves station and is considered to be free rolling
>does not have enough momentum to complete loop, begins to roll back to the station
>does not have enough momentum to fully enter station
>once speed reachs 0 the game considers the train to be arriving at the station, causing it to be powered and have a minimum speed
>train rolls back from station for some reason
>does not enough momentum to complete loop, but as it is now power, it crawls over the top and rolls down the other side
>momentum carries it part way up the tower, minimum speed carries it the rest
>train reaches top of tower, reverses direction
>has enough momentum to return to the station fully

Just what I'm seeing anyway.

Pretty cool glitch.

>> No.2195148

Nice catch, I did not notice that. I guess that's the explanation. I also tried with the Looping Coaster and it behaved in the same way so I guess it works with all reverse coasters.

I also noticed that it is incapable to crash while it's in the "arriving to station" state and retain it's speed if it arrive at the end of the track which is quite hilarious. For example, picture related is a perfectly fine working roller coaster with at least decent stats. It lose the "arriving at station" status when it touch the end of the track however so you can only bounce once.

Still, the concept works and while the coaster could do with improving, mainly by reducing speed and adding more block sections, it's decent enough for a throw together. Going to take this one back to the drawing board.

Got around to playing a tiny bit again. Laying the last hand on my track pack (currently 7 tracks and I'm pretty proud of them all) and then on some awesome other parks I got. Here's a coaster I finished, started ages ago.

Stats are pretty meh, but its not ugly if that pre-drop is on a hill.

It's hard to do with the game's limitations, but woodies look best with almost no straightaways or awkward turns. If you do a dense twister you can hide some and get away with them.

The straight sections are a little boring like this guy says, you could probably put a downhill after the up helix and turn the straight going through the loop into a hill. I like it though, feels relaxed because the parts are spaced out a little.

I made a thing, it doesn't sync up properly though because stacked stations (i can't remember how i did it last time).

The coaster in itself is not bad but look naked without any scenery. Also, with single vehicles like in this case you should put the entrance at the beginning of the station for best efficiency.

Iit's the most beautiful thing in the world.

But unfortunately there are only a handful of coasters that do it. Most Premier LIM coasters in real life have been retrofitted with them, and any surviving Schwarzkopf loopers have lap bars too. Other than that though, they're very rare.

When you play rct2, the world is your canvas to entertain and profit for hundreds of in game years. At first you park is small, and barely survives. Eventually your park becomes bigger, able to take risks without losing everything. If you play long enough you will find you hardly have to do anything, as your park maintains itself. Everything is automated. But everyone who played rct2 can tell you about the first time they killed a guest. Then they found other ways to kill them. They trapped them in the park, cutting off the exits and shut down all the bathrooms or food courts. The built torturous machines specifically to kill. Everyone who plays Roller Coaster tycoon 2 either ascends into a world without choice made of pure mechanized automation, or they descend into mercilessness and lunacy. To me this is metaphor for the future of mankind, always destined to be a world of suffering. And I think how things like this may happen to me in my life time, and I shed a tear.
