Long story short, I forgot until yesterday that I owned a PSP 1001. I used to have Vice City Stories for it but it was just too complex of a game to enjoy on a handheld console. Simpler games such as retro games seem like they would be very enjoyable on this neat little console. So I was wondering, what retro games were ported to the PSP over the years of its lifespan? My dream would be if Doom was ported to the PSP but as far as I know that never happened. What a waste.

Isn't the PSP the king of portable emulation, though?

There is a doom homebrew source port for PSP.
I don't like it honestly, it's got this weird blur effect

More like used to be. and you can still do better than 32mb ram of 1001.

I tried to get a doom port running on my PSP, could never get the controls how I like them.

I'm more looking for commercially released games like the Final Fantasy port.

There was Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. It's a straight port of Rondo and Symphony, along with a remake of Rondo.

Ape Escape: OTL but they butchered the controls. Acronym appropriate.
FFT:WOTL. Port of the PS1 game. I think there's additional content. Best played with 4:3 patch and slowdown patch.
I think there was an FF3.

Anon there are so many emulators for the PSP you've got access to pretty much every game 5th gen and under

It was but I think you can do much better. All PSP models have poor displays by modern standards.

>> No.2194139

While it's not 100% accurate to the original, you could just make an eboot of the PS1 port of Doom, which is decent in it's own right, or try any number of PS1 games. There's tons that are great to play on the PSP.

Gradius Collection on the PSP. I think they have a Ghosts n' Goblins game as well.
