That looks like someone tried porting "Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy" to the Sonic games.

Why is it running in slowmo? Even before things got trippy, the music was all off

And it would just be a dead simple sprite + palette swap too, the graphics are the same size, almost all the moves match up perfect (he can curl up to a star, has a separate "go fast" running animation which is absolutely adorable, etc). and you can grab the entire sprite sheet in a few minutes from Kawaks, just don't confuse his sprites with the player 2 ones (who is a female zupapa).

Sonic 1 had slomo music.
The rest just had slower gameplay.
For what its worth, it was still fast as fuck, it was just tougher to build up speed. And then when you got Supersonic, all hell broke loose.

You wot, that's completly backwards. Sonic 1 played too slow, Sonic 2 played fine but had slow music. Sonic 3 and S&K were adjusted correctly.

No, all of them played slower. Sonic 1 just also had the music slower as well, while the rest had the music running the same speed.

I love this romhack so much that I want a custom Genesis cartridge of it.

I have no idea how I'd go about doing that though, is it expensive?

You'd need to burn your own eprom and solder it into a substitute cart. Most Megadrive games use DIP roms, so you can just buy some cheap substitute game and replace the ROM, also you can buy EPROMs on ebay from china and have them pre-flashed with whatever data you want.

So if you have the soldering gear, and a gamebit screwdriver, then it will cost you the eprom + a substitute cart.

However I'm not aware of any carts which used 4mbyte roms and had any form of save mechanism. The Sonic 3 cart itself only used 2mbyte. I don't know how bit the s3 complete rom is, if it is bigger than 2mbyte then you may need to design your own cartridge PCB as well.

Yeah I was thinking of something along those lines, I've got an old Tom & Jerry game I could replace the ROM and sticker of.

Sonic 3 Complete is almost 4 MB though with the amount of content that's packed into it, I'd have to find a bulkier rom. it seemed like a fun idea because the site that hosts the ROM hack provides graphic templates that you could use for a custom cart

I'll look into it further, thank for the help

Mate, I own the games and I own the consoles. I have Sonic Jam on my NTSC Saturn to compare the game speeds to. Only Sonic 1 plays slow on PAL and that's a fact. It is also a fact that Sonic 2's music does not play at the correct speed on PAL.

Where the dick are you getting your "facts" from? Emulator tests?

Why not just play it on a flashcart? Wasting a cartridge for a single game with no special chips that a flashcart doesn't support is an awfully wasteful idea.
