2182079 No.2182079 [Reply] [Original]

I've been in between the two versions of persona 1, the psp and ps1 version, I hear the psp version is better, but I hate the music in the psp version with a passion, I really love the original OST Music in an rpg is very important to me so that's why i'm actually Leaning towards buying Revelations: Persona. I know about the music patch for the psp version But I'm shit at emulating, what should I do /vr/?

Considering you're precisely the target audience for the music patched PSP version I guess you should learn to run it. It's pretty easy to softmod a PSP these days and I'm sure you can download a pre-patched version of the game if you look a bit.

If that's too much for you and will prevent you from enjoying the game then you need to decide for yourself if the music or the graphics (and translation) are more important to you.

It's super easy to mod a psp these days and the psp has built in ps1 emulation that runs games pretty much perfectly.

That's not a problem, someone already did a patch to replace the PSP music with the original. It's been done for awhile, actually.

Ask the SMT General for the link:

The PSP version is better either way. Even if you liked the goofy effort, an entire part of the storyline was taken out of the original translation. The PS1 version is still worth playing later if you're in for a laugh though.

That patch to put the old music in the PSP version is great though.

Sorry about that, I feel retarded.

Alright I downloaded the pre patched iso, but whenever I'm in the first person mode It always slows down and the sound glitches out whenever I walk. I'm using ppsspp

You don't have a PSP you can mod and put the ISO on? You said yourself that you're shit at emulating.

I also don't know how to softmod my psp. But I'm sure the internet or one of you guys know how

All you need is to put a few files on your memory stick:

There was an official firmware update though about a week ago for the first time in years that I hopefully won't cause too much issue.

What the fuck was it for? Is it about the security breech?

Stability actually.

Apparently the PSP is still huge in Japan and games are still being made for it, though they only get digital releases on the Vita when localized here.

>P2: EP didn't.

I know we've already got a translated version, but it feels strange going from PSP IS to PSX EP. I really wish EP would've got the same treatment as the other two just so I'd have a complete collection on the same platform.

Well, it did, but the game was never localized.

Someone is working on a fan-translation, so there's that:

are the first two persona games worth playing? I have a fat ps2 and a big backlog i've been working my way through but I'm unsure if I should wait to play the original games or jump right into 3 and 4, as I've heard that you can't really go back to the older ones after being spoiled by the new ones.

Some anon developed a modified iso of P1P which replaces the soundtrack with the original. I'm not sure why it's never brought up in threads like this.

If OP shows that he's still around I'll upload it.

>spoiled by the new ones

The difference between 1/2 and 3/4 is so astronomical they might as well not be the same series.

Make sure that you at least play 2. It's fucking amazing. 3 and 4 have lots of mixed opinions, but I enjoyed both of them.

is the PSP release dramatically better than the PS1 release? I don't really care for graphics or anything but if it's anything like what I hear about the original persona having some of its story missing I'd probably wait

It's extremely easy. Like, easier than purchasing a game off of PSN.

>> No.2184916

the psp release is much better. the original whitewashed the fuck out of the game and made way too many awful changes.

the psp version restores it to how it was supposed to be.

You really want to play the first one on PSP. It can be skipped though; compared to 2 it's a little bit awkward.

Both PS1 editions of 2 are great. Make sure to play them in order; PS1 IS has a translation patch and it isn't very different from PSP, though PSP does have some fixes and changes. The only difference is people's names between the two. Eternal Punishment until the fan translation is done can only be played on PS1.

>are the first two persona games worth playing?

I'd say they're closer to SMT than Persona 3 and 4, so it's up to your personal taste.
I haven't played them in over a decade, but they're great games and have a very different feel than P3 and P4 (which I think is good)
