Double Dragon Trilogy is coming to Steam & GoG

Only catch?

DotEmu is handling the port

Thoughts?

>> No.2176726

Steam takes 30% of the profits which is way too much, go for gog instead.

And I rather play those titles on a NES.

Source?

Also, arcades versions are superior

This.

Unless its a HD remake what's the point?

Don't own a Steam account but I'm curious on what the price is for these (dare I say it on /vr/ but it's truth) old ass games?

>> No.2176747

>>2176742
No price, but for reference, Metal Slug 3 and Metal Slug X on Steam are $8 each

A friend if mine produces games[or atleast want to but haven't released one yet] and told me about it, also Nintendo is pretty indie friendly
Also one of the devs of freedom planet were on /vg/ and also said steam get around 30%
Don't have direct source, sorry
and I don't know how much gog takes but I assume less

>Not based M2
>Will probably be just a effortless, bland, vanilla compilation with emulation that potentially could be worse than current MAME builds
Unless you're going all out like the PSX Namco Museums or even something like Capcom Classics Collection & Taito Memories which while basic, had some good presentation and a bit of extra content, there's no reason to even pay money for these dull compilations when MAME exists.

If you can afford to buy games on Steam, you can afford to buy the real cartridge.

>> No.2177005

but a console and a CRT though?

>> No.2177008

Which versions of the game are they going for? There are tons of versions which are all very different.

All I've played from DotEmu are the Metal Slug X and 3 ports and I can't find anything wrong with those.

Metal Slug 3 was pretty bad at first, but its been patched up. Both it and X have really, really good upscaling. I play them both on my monitor, and they look amazing.

So does Google & Apple, yet that doe stop stop indie game makes from flooding their respective app stores with shit. Welcome to the new digital era.

It is actually, a port of a mobile port.

So yes, you nailed it on the head.

Between this and the HOMM3 HD shit, I would assume it's because they're basically built around fast bundles for all platforms with maximized profit.

Even GOG's in-house DOSBox bundles are better. And I need to use BMouse for Blood.

>> No.2177504

Have you guys played the arcade version of Double Dragon?
I know it's one of the first beat em ups, but it's extremely clunky and not all that fun. Even Bad Dudes is better.

then it's not a port, duh

>M2 not in charge of the emulation or port

Also, the fact that every Double Dragon seems to be the most goddamn unoptimized arcade games I've ever played makes me not want to bother with this unless they decide to not make the games run in slowmo.

>> No.2177694

>>2177680
>not a port if it's DotEmu
Say that to the multitude of obvious ROM/Emulator bundles. Most of what they do is literally just putting things in cheap wrappers for easy multi-plat with sometimes Steamworks. That is a definition of port.

>> No.2177707

>>2177694
>That is a definition of port.

No? The definition of a port is to program the game to run natively on a system, not to use emulators

>> No.2178821

>>2177687
This. Double Dragon had slowdown on the original PCB. Bootlegs actually ran smoother.

If it's anything like that shitty iOS/Android compilation, I'll pass. They didn't even bother to include the Japanese version of DD3 (the one without the credit-feeding item shops).

Fuck those Frenchies.

So no export of the shops for you.
