while the emulation isnt great and the sound isn't either, you have a handheld Mega Drive emulator, with enough buttons in the right places to play games properly. You can have every MD/Genesis rom on it at once with the SD slot.

It's a nice thing, I hope you have fun with it and appreciate the person who bought you it.

It's a FireCore Genesis on-a-chip attached to an LCD screen, an SD slot and a decent control pad. It's made by TecToy and sold under the AtGames brand in the US. You can buy it on eBay or at many similar stores or even cheaper versions on AliExpress search for MD handheld or Black Card handheld. A better choice is an Android device with gaming controls or even a NES/SNES/Genesis/GBC dedicated handheld emulator of which there are many. A PSP would also be a better choice.

>>2142529
Nobody even tries to get me vidya stuff I'm way too much of a snob so count your blessings. At least it's probably the best FireCore console in the AtGames line. It plugs into a TV which Xperia Play doesn't do so that's something - and it has the SD slot which is a must.

I actually bought the FireCore shaped like Sonic's head for $4 and put a romset on it just to experience for myself and have some cheap junk I can just toss in my bag if I want to play some Genny at a party or something without worrying.

Honest question to anyone who has it?

How is the spyro collection? Is it all three games on 1 disk? or just the three disks boxed together? I have a buddy willing to sell to me for a good deal, but I want to make sure its worth it.

Also, are the games solid, or are they badly handled ports like most collections? Would I be better off buying them individually?

Got one of these, GCW-Zero. It's pretty cool. Traded in an NGX when I found out it was non-moddable. Now the GCW-Zero is my preferred system for emulation. Though nothing beats the real thing.

Also got 2 Gamebuinos and a TI-84 Plus C for Christmas. Finally gonna replace my almost 2 decade old 83 Plus. Gonna miss the 83 but backlighting and not having to deal with batteries are worth it.

No. It's exactly the same except not portable so worse in that respect, although you CAN use real Genesis controllers on it so it has that - but if you got the one with no SD slot I'd put it right back in its box, go to the local retro games store and try to trade the nice package for a loose model 1.

Well the PSP technically has a better screen but they specifically chose the GCW's screen to have a 1:1 resolution for retro gaming so lots of people prefer it.

It's a much larger, higher resolution TFT screen. I acknowledge that the GCW's screen was specifically chosen to match the native resolution of retro games but even if you ladderbox AND letterbox the image to native resolution in the middle of the PSP screen it's still bigger than the whole GCW screen. The GCW console itself is smaller though and more pocketable but also much more expensive than some used PSP.

They're both right choices for different people stop getting butthurt like I'm insulting your waifu portable

I don't have one but a friend does. It crushes it on the specs department don't even bother trying to compare the performance of shit like a FireCore, GCW or PSP against a Shield.

It's fuck hueg though, bigger than a 360 controller which is what it sort of feels like in your hands but the buttons ARE in slightly weird positions. I could easily get used to it but it seems like lots of people can't.

Personally, I play games on the go on an Xperia Play. The combination of small and cheap was a winner for me.

Owner of both Shield Portable and Tablet. I play on my Portable a lot more because I stick to MAME4ALL, Reicast and the console cores of RetroArch which run flawlessly. My Tablet is used for PSP, Twilight Princess on Dolphin and android games.

If you really want a modded PSP alternative, most definitely get the Shield Portable. It even runs tons of PSP games fine, just don't expect it to totally replace a PSP anytime soon. If you want even better PSP emulation then get the Shield Tablet.

No.

Seriously though, the PSP screen is 3.8'' at an aspect of 16:9 which is a vertical height of 1.86''. The GCW-Zero screen is 3.5'' at an aspect of 4:3 which is a vertical height of 2.1''. PSP is actually smaller but wider.
