Look at what they're doing. A port of FFVII to PS4. We've had a PC re-release on Steam, a Playstation Network release, and now a PS4 PSN release of FFVII.

Its safe to say that everyone who was apart of the Xenogears team is probably not at Square-Enix anymore, and even if they were greenlit to make a new Xenogears game, or remake Xenogears, do you think they would want to make it the same way? Or even in the same style now when we've made so many technological advances?

Face the facts. They would turn it into some abomination action-jrpg that they did with FF13 and slap in more hours of cutscenes then MGS4 did.

Normally I'm against remakes but this one would actually make sense, since the game was never completed the way it was originally intended to be.

That being said, a remake would probably end up being an abomination compared to the obviously rushed, unfinished original.

2) Takahashi would most likely not be involved and the only reason you would want it remade is so that Takahashi could flesh out the story more.

This. They already tried to re-imagine the series from the beginning with Xenosaga and it sucked. All of the original team members have moved on long ago. Shit needs to stop being rehashed and folks need to learn to appreciate what they already have and let it go.

Agree again. He has moved on and no longer has any interest in this anymore. He's old now and seems to have gotten it all out of his system. He has expressed his feelings and has stated he is done with it.

As an older guy, I can relate. When you're young, you have a lot of innovative and revolutionary ideas and ideals, and you've got the mental and physical resources to chase dreams. As you grow older, those fires eventually die down to embers or are outright extinguished by reality.

Yup, it's a great JRPG and still highly enjoyable for those who play them. Anyone who has ever played has had their mind blown at some point by the story or the music or both. It was nearly the perfect storm, probably only undone by the creator's own ambition clashing with the reality of it being a capitalist endeavor sponsored by Squaresoft in the end, as opposed to his personal intellectual property (i.e. a novel or such).

He has a point. Part of the thing with old games is that they did a lot of things that wouldn't translate well to the voice-acted, hi-res era. For instance, it'd look ridiculous fighting Dan in the tournament in HD. With little sprite graphics, you can sort of excuse a little boy being involved in a fighting tournament, but it'd look ridiculous with today's technology.

Gosh. Back in the day no rpg lover (which at that point were used to a fuckton of text and cutscenes) complained about this game being unfinished. Obviously, it felt like the 2nd disc was a little rushed, but the biggest flaw of xenogears was the poor translation.

Xenogears is basically the clusterfuck of all japanese cartoons from the 90s. Chu-chu is the "mokona" rip off in the game. The mechs in general and much of the shevat and related stuff are inspired from mech animes of the time. Elly uniform and overall design look exactly like something from evangelion. It is one of the reasons this game following is much bigger in japan.
I'm not a weaboo and I love xenogears. It has a very 90s anime tone, vibe and even the poor writing and weird shit. I just like the mech combat and the artwork/graphics/soundtrack. Can't say much about the plot or script due to the atrocious translation.

Plus, most of the stuff claimed to be "bad writing" (dan in martial arts tournament, chu chu, maria...) happens in any fucking japanese cartoon and in a lot of games as well. These are japanese cartoon cliches. Not only in xenogears.
To me it holds nostalgic value. I liked chinese cartoons as a kid. Granted, they are all poorly written shit, even the ones overrated by faggots who claim they are 3deep5u (evangelion, cowboy bebop, etc etc) its all the same shit. Same thing happens to xenogears, HOWEVER it is a game, not a cartoon. And after being praised as 3deep5u people take it too seriously (there is absolutely nothing deep in the plot of this game). Its like nirvana's kurt cobain writing a song about mashing potatos while being completely stoned and a bunch of pseudo intelectual artsy critics saying it is poetry about the meaning of the life and existencial shit.
