I've listened to the music from Bahamut Lagoon countless times, and it gives me feels now. I'm almost nostalgic for it despite having never played it. Is it worth a shot? Should I replace the images in my heart that the OST conjures with whichever scenes they will be tied to in the actual game? The death of innocence....rip

It's basically Fire Emblem with Final Fantasy combat (each unit on the field is a party of four). The story is an epic about rebels fighting a dominating empire with dragons in a world made entirely of sky islands. The dialog is batshit insane a lot of the time.

Not in a bad way, but Matelite is a complete lunatic almost every time he is involved in a conversation. The game has some good humour. In my opinion the game is great and it's awful it never got a US release or even a port. I have the SFC cart because it was dirt cheap but I wish I could moonspeak.

I always found the artstyle in it kinda weird.
Especially some of the dragon forms looked downright strange.

I mean what the fuck is this thing here even supposed to be?!

What do you think?

>> No.2121463

Yeah, but I just wish I could play it on English on my SNES without having to spend for a repro or a flashcart. There's always emulation or translating it on the r5 though if I'm desperate I guess.

The menus in the translated version are jacked. Took me a while to sort through them. I liked the battle system though.

Strange. This applies to my most of my SNES soundtracks.

The gameplay isn't that great, and I'm not a fan of the dragon system at all. The dialogue is really odd, and the characters are hilariously inconsistent or just insane due to the translation. Also, fuck that dumb plot twist, why would the game do that to me.

Despite that, you should totally give it a try.

Speaking of the questionable translation:
Was that fire-elemental spear already called "Auschwitz" in the Japanese version or was that added in the translation?

I wouldn't be surprised. I've noticed that the Japanese are very unfazed by words like "genocide" or "holocaust" and like to use them as descriptors just because they sound cool and dangerous.

>According to Sonic 2 level designer Tom Payne, the name "Genocide City" being chosen was due to the development team's "not quite complete grasp of the English language." During an interview with Payne, he went on to say that the team "may have been looking for a name that sounded dangerous," which resulted in the name "Genocide City" appearing in one of the Sonic 2 betas.

The developer's spooge, of course.
