So, what about those java games, /vr/? Can we have a thread about them? Which ones did you enjoy? Do you guys know how to emulate them?

I am pretty sure there are many ways to emulate older Java games.

What I am actually really interested to know is ways to emulate even older mobile games like pic related, aside from remakes made the hard way from scratch. Most games on older monochrome phones are so obscure it isn't even funny, I could barely even scrounge any screenshots or information on anything that isn't Snake or Space Impact.

How did these games even work software-wise? Would it be possible to somehow emulate them if one could get their hands on the original phone hardware?

Apparently you can emulate these games on a PSP but I haven't gotten any of them working.

I don't have a PSP. I got it to wotk on my android phone, ut the screen rezise doesn't work. I'll probably have to root it.

Maaaan! Space impact was the shit! What was that other game where you moved some boxes around? I think the idea was the same as tetris.

The thread on /v/ the other day was solid but I don't think these qualify for /vr/.

Doom RPG is fucking awesome though.

I remember playing this one game on an oldish nokia phone when fully colored screens were a new thing. It was a 2d platform type game where you controlled this red ball around and you had to mostly avoid spikes

I remember that one too. It's called bounce. It was a nice game, but controlling the ball was shit. Itseems there's a remake for android.

I used to play that when I was young enough to believe that 'multiplayer' was actually connecting with others real time... Heh. Though I never knew the game made outside of Korea.

I love j2me epoch. It's sad that many cool games from this time are forgotten. And there was some ports from retro systems too. And even some emulators written on java. For example I emulated NES end SMS on my Nokia. I really want we could disscuss this matter on /vr/, but it's still against rules. Even if we consider mobile java as single platform, as I know it's started in 2000, not 1999.

At least, It could be regarded as purchase, so developers got some. But I suspect that many of such sellers never paid anything to owners.
